Mountain Golf

I played in a tournament yesterday (I'm from Denver) at a mountain course south of Denver called Ravenna. Beautiful course, but it was like an 11 on the difficulty scale. The elevation changes, forced carries, the huge slopey (and fast) greens.

I played well and still shot a 95. Was brutal & beautiful all at the same time. LOL

i like mountain golf as well.. my favorite course so far is Roring Gap cc in Roring Gap NC... Old Donald Ross design and some breathtaking views... sorry i dont have pics on here ...but google would review some im sure

yea elevation changes will mess you up badly unless you play the course several times!

OP, try to check out Lakota Canyon. Just west of Denver and is just amazing. Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction is also something really special.

Roaring Gap is a wonderful course.

Mountain golf is an acquired taste and skill. It is also very course dependent. Courses have to be well designed to handle the nuances of the terrain or else it becomes goofy golf. Course knowledge is a huge plus.

Distances in the lack of air also is a big plus. Really easy to jack your normal 150 iron about 20 or 30 yards past "normal" with the elevations and thin air. I learned that the "hard way".

It is a blast once you learn your all new distances. : )

 

I also noted that the weather was a real trip out there too. One day it was around 80. The next morning it was in the 40's and the high was only about 65. And NO humidity!

 

Nothing not to love, that's for sure.

Ya its great living in Colroado. My ball just flies and keeps staying in the air. Sea level I can hit my 7 iron 145. Here my 7 iron averages 165.

 

Also its very dry hear, so dry your skin cracks. LOL
