REVIEW: Mitsubishi TENSEI CK Pro White Prototype vs. KuroKage Silver TiNi

Recommended Posts

I have to ask. I have been a long time Diamana fan. I have loved the OG white, the D+, the W series, and more. Obviously the stiff tip, stiff mid, soft butt works for me. However, I'm intrigued by the Tensei and also the Kuro Kage. How does the feel differ in this shaft versus say the W series or the Whiteboard? How about the Kuro Kage?

I would say Tensei Pro White is smoother feeling than OG whiteboard for sure. As for Kuro Kage, it definitely has a smoother and less rigid butt than KKXT, but retains that firm and very controlled feeling through impact. Both profiles retain great feel, but Tensei Pro White spins less.

From my experience and from what I've seen on another golf shaft website, the whiteboard and kuro kage XT are pretty similar. I think as far as spin the kuro kage XT and tensei pro white would pretty similar for many.

For me, on Trackman, Tensei Pro White vs Kuro Kage XT, both 70tx, both tipped the same at the same playing length, in the same head, with the swingweight modified to be identical, showed about 400-500 rpm less spin out of Tensei Pro White. I agree that may be similar, but it's certainly enough to make a difference

Thanks for the help. So it's a whiteboard with smoother feel? If so I'm in. I love the whiteboard but right now I'm addicted to the graphite design feel at the cost of performance. This may be the ticket.

Wow, definitely low spin then. One of the more recent shafts I've hit with very low spin was the Hzrdus black. Wonder if the Tensei pro white is supposed to compete with that.

HZRDUS Black was the second lowest spin shaft for me on Trackman. The Tensei White was a couple hundred rpm lower still, but the HZRDUS brought my launch angle down over a degree in the process, which is something I didn't want. I was still able to retain a decent launch angle AND drop my spin lower than anything else with the Tensei, which is precisely what I was hoping for. I also hit the Tensei Pro Blue pretty well but the dispersion wasn't as tight as the white model and the spin was more like Kuro Kage XT.

How much weight did you have to add over the KKXT? Is the white counterbalance or is it just a different balance point?

I don't recall how much weight difference it was to match swingweight. The tester was changing them and it was months ago. The white isn't cb, the orange is.

I have a Diamana BF (Blue Force, 4th generation Blueboard) 60x coming to test against the Tensei! The Blueboard bend profile has always worked well for me (Kai'li was a shaft I played for a few years) so interested to test this one out.

I tested that shaft against the 60TX Tensei Blue on Trackman.... It spun quite a bit more on misshits but was really long good for good. I could not tell a difference in feel between the two but I admittedly have a hard time telling much difference in shafts feel other than flex and weight.

NOt surprised I"m hearing good things. KP you hit the orange yet? Wonder if it would be a good option for heads like the Ping G LS being as they use CB shafts in their heads.

I have hit the Version 1 Orange proto. The counterbalance is very pronounced, but I really like it actually. One note I'd like to make is that all the Tensei Orange are screened 60TX, but in reality they are 75 grams. There is no 60 gram version currently. I'll be hitting the Trackman over the next few days with several profiles. Maybe I'll do a review if anyone is interested.

Currently game the Oban Black 65g in the 05 flex. After reading the Tensi white seems really good. Any comparison of the Oban Black vs the pro white?

I've never hit anything from Oban except the Kiyoshi line so unfortunately no comparison.

Nice! I love the b-series blueboard but haven't had the chance to hit the CK/CK Pro Blue yet. The new BF-series sounds nice and would love to know how to compares to other blueboards.

Blue Force feels like old school blue board with a bit more stable tip section. I think it's the closest of all the generations to feeling most like original BB in terms of being smooth, yet stable.
