Is there a better GPS app than this?

i've tried them all it seems. Golfshot, hole19, Swing by Swing, and a few others.

 

some i had a hard time seeing in sunlight. some you couldn't skip ahead to a hole and get yardages without entering previous hole's score. some didn't keep track of stats like i wanted. some took too long to get yardages so that you'd look at app and see 166 only to have it updates 6 seconds later to 154....they all had their bad

 

until i found GolfPad GPS. shows up great on a phone in sunight, is fast and you can quickly skip from hole to hole if you only want to use as a gps and enter scores and shots later, has a ton of options for stats...even shots gained.

 

just wondering if others have used this app and if they have did you go back to a different app. the downside is the cost. its free but to track most stats its $20 a yr. this is the biggest drawback. i haven't paid the fee and only using as gps for the time, but seems if you want to keep track of all stats this is the best app out there.

 

thoughts? i want opinions from those who've actually used this app for a round.

I've been using it for quite a while. It does everything I need it to.

 

I've been a premium subscriber for a while, so my yearly dues are $10, not $20, but I'd probably pay $20/yr for it.

Yup I've tried them all and Golfpad is my go-to, which is saying a lot because I don't care about keeping score or stats, which is the heart of the app. I just love the GPS on it. Very smooth

 

TrackMyGolf is another I like. BirdieApps is also good and has an animated display rather than the usual Google Earth display

Following this thread as I used Swing by Swing yesterday and found it to be very accurate GPS wise. Was about to upgrade to the Looper version but may need to reconsider..

i think most now are accurate. what i liked about golfpad is for those rounds you don't want to track scores or stats you can just use the gps and move from hole to hole quickly. seems most of the other apps either force you to enter a score after a hole before seeing the next hole or they have multiple screens that ask for score, then putts etc before getting to the next hole.

i still don't like carrying a phone in pocket and constantly taking it in and out of pocket, turn on screen and enter lock password each time....most likely will be buying a watch

The watch really makes things so much easier. I am a GolfPad user and I only pull out my phone to enter club data between holes or to get layup targets on unfamiliar courses.

Golf Pad was the fist app I tried and I've been pretty pleased.Haven't felt a need to try any others. I use it purely for yardages and it has been very accurate.

That's strange because when I click on it, it goes to a youtube video showing how to use foursum. There is music playing in the background when showing the video but that's all. You could also just do a Google search for foursum to check it out. You could also use this link http://foursum.com/

I did thanks. it wont sync with my gear. talk about over kill I have 4 maybe 5 gps apps on my phone and cant try 3 of them until spring.

Another GolfPad premium user. Love the interface. I used it with a pebble watch and their tags. Their tags are a bit fragile; i've broken a few. Heard they are good about sending replacements but I haven't contacted them yet. Love all the data you get from the app.

GPS accuracy is NOT dependent on your app, it is dependent on your phone (the GPS hardware and possibly additional software you have loaded for managing the GPS accuracy). The golf app you use is just a "consumer" of this data already presented by your phone.

 

That said, I'm still using SkyCaddie Mobile because it does NOT use satellite imagery and provides the highest level of readability of any of the apps available.

I've recently tried out Fun Golf GPS on recommendation of another user here and so far I quite like it (certainly best app for the apple watch that I have seen so far).

 

Problem is the app is not free (free to download but in order to use it you have to pay).

Most GPS apps just use satellite images, this app uses vector graphics and even offers a 3D view (probably a gimmick but looks nice).

 

Stupid name though for a GPS app. Judging by the (negative) reviews a lot of people downloaded it thinking it was some kind of game ;-)
