No - but that's only my opinion based solely on the pictures I have seen and nothing else. So I could be wrong.

I played there a couple of months ago. It's a links style course so pictures may not look that great but it's a great course. I haven't play Dallas national but I've heard they're losing members to trinity forest because it is better. I loved the course and can't wait to go back.

It's not completely private. 25% of the rounds are public. They built the course on city land. Have your HP call and he can get you on. Walking only. Caddie required for outside play. $250 weekdays. $350 weekends. Plus caddie fees

 

As to whether it's better than Dallas National, it's hard to say because they are polar opposite courses. TF is a Links course. DN is your typical Fazio course. I was at TF this weekend and was told that they are getting more play from DN members every day because they love TF

My father played it today actually and said it was very hard, at least in today's wind. Very, very firm and fast.

Looking at playing Trinity Forest next weekend while I'm in town for a wedding but wanted to see if non-members thought it was worth the $350 greens fees to play. I think I'll eventually want to play it, but for $350 want it to be in great shape. Is the course still brown or is it fully greened in now?

I've played it a half dozen times now and I like it, don't love it. It's a bit unique for Dallas and during the time of the Byron when the area can see some stormy weather with higher winds that could have an impact on scoring. After the first year novelty wears off I really believe the Byron is going to suffer as the people who would frequent that tournament aren't going to like what they have to drive through. Southlake, Colleyville, Flower Mound, Coppell people just aren't going to make that drive and 2 friends of mine on the salesmanship club are worried about it. So much so that there is a belief that it could end up back at the TPC at some point. They are transitioning from mimosa's on the veranda to pitbulls on the porch

Not a member. I was in the DFW area because my wife had a couple day work conference. I tagged along for the trip and went golfing.

 

As far as getting on the course, I had an old acquaintance that had access, so I played with him. It sounds like they do trade rounds with some other courses, so it would probably be worth the call.

You are correct on reciprocity, I've played it 4 times as a guest and 2 times with my pro calling in.

August has zero wind....but that goes to show that the PGA will tear that course apart if the wind is dead when it's time for the Nelson

they also had rain before/during that tournament that softened it up nicely. It’s defense is definitely wind...

I played it on an nice and calm day back in early June and found it to be extremely easy. They could definitely find some tough pin positions however. I can see it being a different course with a lot of wind but like almost any links course, no wind, no defense. Just like the Open Championship has very low scores if the weather is calm all week.

I played it a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it. I went trying to find something that played like real links Golf in the usa in the winter and that is exactly what I found. I loved the par 3s especially, what a great set the short 8th being a particular standout as well as 12. Lots of angles and strategy everywhere and ground game options aplenty. Shots where you need to aim away from the flag to get it close, great variety of length of holes and great green complexes. Easily my favorite course in Texas.

It will be very interesting in May at the Byron, but I will be more interesting in the spectators experience. There is not shade and nowhere to park the car.It just seems like a logistical nightmare. It will be interesting.
