Rory Mcilroy to sign with Callaway in 2017

Where is @nolayingup on this signing? He said Rory would NOT be signing any deal in 2017.

 

I'm right here. This is why the equipment game reporting is so pointless to me, and why I'm so hesitant to get involved. Rory himself told me he would be a free agent in 2017. I'm not sure what changed, but things did, and here we are. There isn't more to the story than that. So I'll own it for being wrong, and swear off the equipment game for real this time.

 

I think what changed was the recent Nike extension. I think it renegotiated the equipment portions of his previous contract and freed him up.

 

That's a good point. Nobody really knows 100% how the pre-equipment-exit Nike contracts work now that they are out of the game, but I bet you are spot on there with the new contract having drastically different language.

Awe come on man, don't do that! I know that I for one particularly enjoyed your input on matters because we knew that it WASN'T your cup of tea and that you were just reporting what you were told by the player. It was sort of refreshing.
