Rory Mcilroy to sign with Callaway in 2017

Sorry but based on all info released to the public any money that any Nike staffer receives from another manufacturer gets knocked off the top of their Nike contract. So say TM pays Koepka 2m per annum and his base contract with Nike is 3m p/a then Nike will only have to cough up 1m. This has been written about extensively on this forum. This is ridiculous and whoever decides to swallow this nonsense shame on them. Why sign any deal when a pro can get custom fitted of any clubs he chooses and carry two sets of clubs on tour in event one breaks and he tosses it into the water. I am floored that intelligent beings would swallow this ridiculous language discussed in these forums. For the record I am not buying it know better. A contract cannot be altered unless two parties agree to a change and I doubt it that manufacturers like TM and Callaway would pay Nike payroll for subpar players on tour.

After a lengthy discussion with a reliable source I was informed that Rory Mcilroy will sign with Callaway Golf this season. This should not be a surprise as the only thing not Callaway in his bag are his wedges and golf ball which are Titliest. My source advise that Mcilroy had a great interest in Taylormade but they could not agree on contract terms. I was curious why Mcilroy had not signed to Callaway and I was advised that Mcilroy wanted 10 Million dollars a year for 5 years. Callaway and Mcilroy's agency could not agree on terms and the agreement is that Mcilroy will play the equipment and they will go back to the table after a few tournaments. I think Callaway should agree with the terms now because if Mcilroy wins the Masters or any majors unsigned his stock is going to get higher and he will ask for more money when they go back to negotiate.

 

This doesn't need to be said, but this is simply not true. Rory will not be signing a deal in 2017.

I wouldn't take anyone's word. It's all speculation... did anyone expect Rory to come out with Taylormade equipment for a tournament, then turn on a dime and have almost a full Callaway bag? No...

 

The point is, the guy is going to do whatever he wants, regardless of what he's "telling people". If a company is going to pay him enough money, he will sign. Hell, if Mizuno approached him tomorrow and said, "We'll pay you $20M a year for 5 years if you play a full bag of our equipment." He would do it, it's $20,000,000 a year people!

 

The main goal is to win more tournaments. The more tournaments he wins, the more valuable his stock becomes. Eventually a company and him will come to terms for a lucrative deal and he won't turn it down. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen a year from now. But if Callaway, Titleist, Mizuno, Taylormade, PXG, etc. approach him with a dollar-figure that's too high for him to turn down, he's going to take it regardless of what anyone on this site thinks.

Actually NLU called both his swap to the TMAG metal woods and the switch to the majority Cally bag. Just fyi.

Not saying I agree with Rory to Callaway, but consider if someone were to pay Brooks or Rory MORE than Nike was on the hook for. Surely, there would be incentive in that case, n'est-ce pas?

Maybe Nike is paying Callaway a portion of Rory's contract value so they can keep some money and then Callaway can have Rory.
