Rory Mcilroy to sign with Callaway in 2017

After a lengthy discussion with a reliable source I was informed that Rory Mcilroy will sign with Callaway Golf this season. This should not be a surprise as the only thing not Callaway in his bag are his wedges and golf ball which are Titliest. My source advise that Mcilroy had a great interest in Taylormade but they could not agree on contract terms. I was curious why Mcilroy had not signed to Callaway and I was advised that Mcilroy wanted 10 Million dollars a year for 5 years. Callaway and Mcilroy's agency could not agree on terms and the agreement is that Mcilroy will play the equipment and they will go back to the table after a few tournaments. I think Callaway should agree with the terms now because if Mcilroy wins the Masters or any majors unsigned his stock is going to get higher and he will ask for more money when they go back to negotiate.

Or if he doesn't make the cut callaway should sigh him for half or less. Yes ? It's w good pickup for callaway. But I think callaway is a good pickup for Rory. Much better than being part of the faMily. Just my opinion.

Agreed, he's still pulling in a fair amount of dough from Nike for apparel. I think he gives it a shot playing whatever he thinks works best for at least a full season. Like he said in his Feherty interview, he's set and is only playing for championships now (if you believe that).

It's not just apparel, he's still collecting on his full contract less what he may get from elsewhere for clubs isn't he? And maybe that's what you are referring to.

After the FedEx club he claimed he had enough Nike balls and irons and was not going to make any changes. The people around him encouraged him to take advantage and seek it out an equipment deal as Nike had to honor his contract despite pulling out of equipment, bags and balls. Why not make and extra 10 million a year. 35 million dollars a year to wear apparel and play equipment. The people around him have passion for business.

If Rory signed with Callaway (or Titleist), they would be using his likeness in their marketing. They aren't.

Then Rory has no "agreement" that binds him to anything in regard to whether he plays Callaway.

And I think Callaway probably has a handle on how it wants to negotiate, if it does.

My source is well connected and he is not blowing smoke. Mcilroy is all business and he is playing the cards. Callaway is playing poker here and if Mcilroy gets the better hand by winning early a few times they will pay.

Mcilroy will be Callaway staffer this year. Callaway stable is aging, Mickelson is getting older and Stenson still has a punch but is aging as well. Mcilroy is going to pack a punch for years to come and the ball is in his court. Mcilroy is not lacking when it comes to finances as he makes nearly 40 million dollars a year in endorsements and still receive appearance fees in Europe. To say Callaway has the handle on it i doubt it. Mcilroy's team will set the terms and Callaway will agree. Stay tuned

U should get advise from u reliable source on u use of English. Lots of punch Packing coming Up.

Your response using U in a sentence and criticizing my use of the english language is taking away from the thread as you are unaware of my education level likewise I am unaware of yours. I am not going to go back and forth with you and resort to pettiness and demoralized the ethics of this site and stain this lovely golf platform with ugliness. Been there, communicated with the moderators and I am committed to respecting the rules of this site and will stick to the topic on thread. Wish you the best.

Except unless Rory increases Callaway's profits by at least 15 million a year, the deal makes no business sense. Either Callaway thinks they still have margin to increase sales prices without resulting in less sales, or they are thinking to reduce their stable and have Rory replace Phil eventually, or they think the increase in sales volume with current margins will cover his fees. If they feel the future of golf "sales" is not in the USA then I understand transitioning from Phil to Rory as Rory likely has more draw on that side of the ocean.
