Hogan BH-5: Opinions?

I was looking at getting a set of the Callaway X-14 Pro, but stumbled across these. They almost setup the same!

 

Looking at picking these up for a song, but before I do that, any opinions on these?

These were released right after Calloway purchased BH, IIRC. Probably not much different than a BH-labeled x-series iron.

BH-5 are very similar to the Callaway X12/14 irons. Very nice and honest clubs. Beware of the "offset" version...unless you like offset of course.

Yes a good model. Will last well also being cast.

Yeah the offset model has more offset than I've ever seen in an iron. I mean damn the look like an axis1 putter .

As has been said, basically an X14 redux. As the X14 PS was never produced in LH, I picked up a set of the BH-5's for cheap a few years ago. Never really played them regularly, but they're nice irons. As you can see from the photos, they basically scream Callaway from that era.

 

From L to R, that is BH-5, Z565, CB3, and 900 HM. The BH-5 have the thinnest sole, but are generally longer heel to toe. No real tech in them, but still good irons.

Ok, I just picked up a non-offset set in like new condition! Just need to blue print them to my specs.

Some of the most consistent irons I've owned, low offset and fairly easy to hit. Nothing flashy about them, just a solid performer.

Wow! I recall them being similar to the Callaway X - series, but they really are the same iron with slight cosmetic modifications. Heck, even the font on the sole numbers is the same! Nice pickup!
