Instructors in Georgia - north of Atlanta

Hi All, looking for recommendations on an instructor in the Johns Creek/Suwanee area of Atlanta. Willing to drive 30 mins or so but nothing too far. I found some older posts on this topic but they were fairly dated and a lot of the instructors have moved clubs by now. Appreciate any help. I am probably an 18 handicap but rarely play so looking for someone who is willing to work with me to improve. Also, what should I expect to pay per lesson?

OP, I moved down to Peachtree City a couple months ago, and this isn't directly in the wheelhouse of what you were asking...but....

 

 

Chris Cartwright is the Head Professional at West Pines GC in Douglasville. He's charging between 45-55 an hour for lessons. I couldn't tell you because after a year of working with him, I rarely had to pay for a lesson. When I started with him, I don't even think I was an 18 HCP, probably a 45 HCP. I'm down fluctuating between single digits and a low ten now and again and consistently shooting low 80s with a jump into high 70s now and again. He's 28, he's honest, and he doesn't use hardly any of the nonsense technology that everyone gets caught up in. He watches your swing, he sees your ball flight and he has a wealth of knowledge and drills and has worked with Michael Breed on occasion. He's worth the drive from Suwanee. Check him out.

I am at a point where I plan to start playing a lot more and want to improve. My biggest issue is getting off the tee and being in play.. as well as short game.

I would send you to Jeff Frazier at Reunion. Jeff is a Top 50 Professional for Juniors but does all ages. He is in the process of getting everything set up at Reunion and they are building him a learning center. You will have to put the time in with him as he is not a quick fix guy. If you buy a series from him and stay the course, you will improve for sure. Jeff worked for Pelz at Reynolds and his forte is the short game.

It's probably a little further than 30 mins. but check out Ted Fort. He teaches out of the Marietta Golf Center off i-75. I've had lessons from him and would definitely recommend him. He's good at explaining things and has all the latest launch monitor technology as well.

Without a doubt, I would go see Jon Tattersal. A little bit of a drive as he is located in Buckhead but he completely took my game to the next level. I'm based in Kansas City and make the trip to see him a few times a year. If interested, private message me and I'll be happy to get you in touch.

Mike Perpich at River Pines is a top 100 teacher I believe. Rates aren't cheap, but I hear he's good.

Was gonna suggest this. I've never taken a lesson from him but he has a good rep and I've seen him on the range giving lessons, gets results.

Ted is awesome and has a very pragmatic approach to teaching what is a complex game. I don't have any experience with the others being mentioned, but I do with Ted and he is awesome.

I dont really have a preference, both are good. Danny did work with Luke List until he got his pga tour card, dont know why they broke up at that point. danny also worked with roberto castro until half way through college.
