Food at Bandon

I’m heading to Bandon with a group of buddies in November. It will be our third trip but the first since spring of 2015. Everyone is pretty pumped about it.

 

Question for those that have been recently: what seems to be going on with the food on property? There has been lots of chatter on here about how the quality has declined. Is it a problem across the resort? Or is it more localized to McKees? On past trips we have always found the food to be solid, particularly in the context of a guys golf trip - big, hearty portions that go great with a pint or two or four. Interested in your thoughts.

I was there in February and the food was fine at McKee's, Trails and Pacific. Same as it's been for years.

 

But then again, I didn't experience any drop-off of distance* from my Mizuno MP 54's, so...

TBH - the sample size was two posters who felt it slipped.

I've always found it sturdy fare, that serves it purpose accompanied by a few pints, but nothing I'd bring my GF to impress her with my foodie knowledge ;)

It has dropped; Was there for a tournament last week and a significant number of participants went into Bandon to eat.

 

Trails End now only does lunch and it is not that good.

 

Mckees has definitely dropped: example the fried oysters were so over-fried that they were clumps of fried "air pockets"; Pizzas were pretty bad

 

Even Pacific grill was not quite as good.

When I was there in late 2015 (it's the only time I have been there) I just thought the food was 'decent' overall. Nothing memorable. Everything was just kind of standard tavern fare. We ate at Mckees, Trails End, and Pacific Grill (for lunch). It was solid but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was good or anything like that.

 

In comparison to the town of the Bandon.. the food was incredible lol

Where do you all eat in town?

The only place I've eaten is one of the crab shack of lunch on our last last before driving back up to Portland.

Actually also ate lunch at that supermarket when they had a guy grilling stuff outside. Tri-tip sandwich was decent.

I too would be interested to learn where in Bandon-town the food is better. The places I've tried there in the Old Town area were definitely not spectacular...

I can't say the food is "bad" but not as good as before. 2017 vs. 2016 and a group of non-foodies all made individual mentions of the quality being lower.

 

Burger/sandwich rolls were chewy and meat was less than choice cut.

 

We ate at all the restaurants, and all of them seems a step below what they were a year prior.

That's a shame. It takes a little bit away from the experience. At least for a guy like me who loves food ;)

The food has slipped considerably and while it sucks... the bad taste goes away as soon as you peg it.

 

We won't even eat there next year, but all is good. The golf more than makes up for it.
