PM from fellow WRX'er - thoughts?

Well over a week ago I posted in the WTB section. The item I was wanting to purchase was very common and in a very short time I received well over 10 pm's regarding the item. I purchased the item from a fellow WRX'er and either deleted the other PM's or replied and notified the sender that I had already purchased the item. I have received a few messages since then and have either deleted them or replied, depending on what I am doing at the time they are received. Typically, if I send a PM to another member and they never reply, I think little to nothing of it. People are busy and unless we are conducting business, no one owes me a reply. I received this PM from a member a few moments ago and was curious on what my fellow WRX'ers thought:

 

"a piece of advice....you shouldn't post a wtb ad and not respond to people who offer what you asked for...that's a real ****** bag move!"

 

So am I a douchebag or is does this guy take golfWRX a little too seriously?

maybe think about it from the other end. A person requests something you don't have for sale or your not trying to move and you think.. .hey I can help this person out.. why not. its not hard to copy and paste a thank you but I found one to the people who took the time to message you. Do I think you're a ****** because you didnt do what I would have... no.

I have been on the other end multiple times. I don't correlate not replying with that person being a douchebag though lol.

I think it should be expected that in these types of situations not everyone is going to respond. It's nice to say thanks for the offer, but you're not a DB for not doing it.

I always respond that I've already found something. . But not doing so isn't a big deal. I'm used to non responses, most of the time I respond to a WTB ad I never hear anything.

 

I really wish you could delete your own WTB thread after you've found what you're looking for. Not have to ask a mod to delete it.

I look at it this way, they took the time to respond, so I will do the same.

And this is why the WTB section gets so many complaints. If you go in the Deal or No Deal section, you will see tons of complaints about this exact practice of "no reply is my reply". The response from potential sellers in the long run is to not bother replying to WTB ads in the first place.

 

So while I see your point, you need to understand the other side. Is it really that hard to respond to a PM? And if you want to stop PM's, report your WTB ad and ask to have it removed. I've done this numerous times.

If I don't hear back from a buyer, I delete the post and don't look back....and I typically phrase my PM with "if interested lmk"....so if they are not interested, there is no need to reply.

 

The guy has thin skin....don't sweat it!
