False. The same athletic folks from the 60s and 70s saw Wilt as the Freak. The same NBA folks this generation saw Lebron as a freak. Every generation has players that will stand out as an anomaly and will do things that their peers can't. You can't toss out a bunch of white boys and say they're not good players. At the time they were.

You can toss them out…..because once you elevate the conversation to all timers etc…..they are now competing against each other in theory. Sure at the time Wilt was a "freak" but in the grand scheme…..compared to athletes of today he likely falls short if not by alot. Same token, take a LBJ and dump him in the 50s……dear Lord. Heck, dump Andre Drummond in the 50s and 60s…and he's likely an all timer. When you're talking about that room filled with the "special guys" only a few really stand out totally in that room. Guys like LBJ you literally see once in a lifetime……a physical and skill package like that, doesn't come around often at all. Same like Calvin Johnson, Bo Jackson etc….Those types of specimens transcend generations. Its also pretty widely accepted almost all professional sports are better, if not much better than they ever have been….the level of competition is just different than its been so to be dominating in this day is something impressive. This is just speaking in terms of physical presence, Im not saying Lebron is better than MJ.

Its the same conversation we see over NFL, NBA, MLB etc etc etc that never really has a defined answer. How would Lebron have fared in the much more physical era of Jordan or vice versa? How many more yards/TDS would Jerry Rice have had in modern NFL rules that favor offense?

Scratch lol………wildin.

More like compensating. Anyone can throw out a big pen15 contest

If we comparing across the body of work then his finals resume is enough to eliminate him from goat status. He’s heading into jerry west territory. And some say he parallels Walt career. Completely dominating and finals record winning percentage is almost the same.

And enough with the underdog narrative.

Please, Scratch is a cool dude and Ive talked to him many times offline about sports, golf and especially our Niners. He's also not the LBJ fanboii you keep desperately trying to paint him as. If you actually are reading what he's writing, you may see that…..

Also, I think this is the most times Jerry West's name has been mentioned since possibly ever lol. What "underdog" narrative are you talking about?

He’s literally the logo. You Guys want to talk stats. History. But want to conveniently forget when things are brought up.

It doesn’t matter to me if he’s a cool guy. If you come off compensating then that’s what you are. A spade is a spade. I can lie about my handicap and say I’m scratch. Maybe I’ll change my name to scratchjerebear. Then I’d be able to talk about nba, right?

Wow that Handicap thing really dug deep... I had no idea that you had handicap envy.

Of course. I play with two plus player every week. I envy real life plus players. Not the internet big pen15 one if you know what I mean.

This escalated quickly...

Lol yeah - zero to 100.

Back to basketball does anyone actually think Cleveland will win tonight?

I feel they’ll probably grab 1 or maybe 2. But I’m also pessimistic of my teams.

This thread has gotten so awesome I'm half expecting Kevin Durant to sign with it

I’m pretty sure KDs burner account is on here to tell us how much better Duncan is then LeBron.

Wait until you guys find out that I am actually Bryan Colangelo

Well lebron final records going 3-6. That gap ain’t ever closing. He’s 33 this year.

This golden state team will stay together for at least 2 years. Paul George joining Houston rumors may be true.

Lebron will be 35 when the gsw cap blow up in their face and most likely 3-8 in finals unless he beats Paul George and joins Houston first.

Legacy sealed. Game over.

Duncan’s resume looking better and better with those 5 championships.

And enough of the underdog narrative. Lebron did this to himself.

But they would beat the GOAT 6 out of 10.

Even with the GOAT going 9 of 26 or 5 of 16 which happened quite a few times on the Finals stage. He just made those go away with the game clinchers.

Somehow somebody else's game clinchers can't seem to narrow that WalMart gap.

Jordan's career finals fg% was .481 but don't let the facts get in the way.

And Jordan wouldn't have to face a team like GSW so you can't set up a hypothetical match-up against him. Why he wouldn't face a team like GSW in his prime? Because he wouldn't have teamed up with Barkley in their prime years that would subsequently create another super team to block their paths to eternal glory.

Your examples of Malone and Payton joining the lakers as a super team was one of the worst there is on this board.

Don't be a Lebron apologist. I'm a fan of the NBA and enjoyed Lebron immensely during his first stint with Cleveland but realistically speaking who is there to blame for the current track? You can't blame KD and GSW.

He created this dillema and blocked his own way to immortality.

The player driven super team era began when his Queenness took his talents to south beach and his return home is because that is where he had the best chance to win going forward.

GSW was a team that came out of nowhere. They had talent but Kerr was the brains of the 67-wins team that turned them into a juggernaut and eventual champion. Durant wouldn't have gone to GSW if Lebron doesn't twice go to where he thought the rings would be. The difference is while GSW have talent, it's a team thing there. Any one can lead in scoring or assist at any given night.

Lebron may go to LA with George but that's not going to happen(rumors of PG13 going to houston and the west is that much harder). He can literally do what he wants and he has been for years.

His SI letter said he would finish his career in Cleveland then why the short contracts and speculations that he'll leave. The mediocrity of this current team has his finger prints all over it and he's to fault as anyone. And by driving kyrie away he assured they have no future once he figures out where he wants to be next. He's a great player. Great Great Great player. 59 different teammates or so and 8 straight Finals even if the east is considerably weaker. But stop apologizing for him. He sort of deserve it.

Just showing that Jordan had teammates that could get him through the nights he was shooting 35% from the field, like Steph had KD tonight.

MJ had good teams. Well at least another 50 greatest.

If the Cavs had TD they wouldn't need LeBron.

Lebron had wade and bosh in their prime and lost to a Mavs team with a hobbling point guard that had a spotty 3 pointer.

We know very well you are a Lebron apologist(I get it. It's why I do it for Tiger) but the underdog narrative and apologies need to be thrown out the window.

During his 4 years in miami, his team was the favorite regardless of what Vegas say. He should have been 4-0 instead of losing to the Mavs and old man duncan's team. His one glory win over Spurs was a baby jesus heave.

The vegas spread is there to pull the public in and perception is very important to line setters. I know since I'm a big point spread gambler.

Serious question - what would it take for LeBron to be considered the best ever? Or is his legacy sealed because his Queenness created his own immortality and lost to a Mavs Dirk team and wobbling PG, Wade carried his shrinkage problem, and he was a baby Jesus heave away from another finals loss? So I ask, can he ever change the narrative and if so what would it take?
