Looking for good course EAST of Chicago July 30th

I'm headed into Chicago July 30th from Michigan and have two buddies coming in from Toledo and Dayton on Sunday as well. We want to find a very good course to play EAST of the City for a mid afternoon round. Ideally within an Hour of Chicago and I'll look for some suggestions from this intelligent group.

Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, MI. Nicklas course that has held a couple of Champions Tour majors. Best course outside the city that is public. It's on the shores of Lake Michigan.

In Chicago I would try Drubshead where the used to host the BMW Invitational.

Both courses are hard and about $125 for greens fees.

Looking east, I would say the pickings are some what slim sticking to that 1-hour drive time. Best bet would be Harborside on Chicago's SE side. Cog Hill's Dubsdread is SW of downtown, not what you are looking for.

Traffic coming thru NW Indiana can be an absolute nightmare, but if it is light, SW Michigan and South Bend offer a number of very good courses at or just over the one-hour drive time.

There aren't any very good courses within an hour EAST of Chicago as it is on the lake. Assuming you are trying to come up with a meeting point for you and your buddies. Harborside as mentioned above is probably the easiest but on a Sunday afternoon I would imagine it will be packed. Harbor shores in MI is a nice track but 1.5 hours from Chicago. Most of the "very good" courses are west of the city. Ravisloe might be a good option. If any of you are a member at a private course your pro may be able to get you on some courses on the south side.

If you are looking for any option west of the city lmk.

Yeah, east of the city is fairly slim. Harbor Shores, Blackthorn, and Warren would be my choices, although they're a bit further than an hour out. Whittaker Woods is supposed to be decent, but I haven't played it. Lost Marsh in Hammond is a love/hate type course. I respect it for what it is, i.e. target golf, but it has its share of detractors. Harborside is top notch.
