What's your ride - reason I am asking is I am thinking about getting a Denali. Wife has a Tahoe but I'd love to get a Denali with the 6.2L.

 

What do you have and how do you like it.

QX60 for the wife. I still drive a 97 Chevy pickup up!!

 

My next ride will probably be Cadillac Escalade XT. Mostly because I want the the larger engine!!

I have always been a die-hard GM guy.My wife owns a 15 Silverado and loves it. Was planning on getting a Tahoe or Yukon with the 6.2 this go round but I couldn't get past the reviews on the vibrations and Driveline issues that seem to be pervasive in this current model. Just Google Tahoe shake or Yukon shake. It seems to be you're almost playing the lottery buying one of these. A lot of people with the 8-speed are also complaining about the shift points and clunking. GM doesn't seem to have an answer to either one of these issues. I'm not paying $75-80k new or even $45k-60k used for a vehicle that's going to shake like a wet dog. They are nice vehicles from an interior standpoint but they also have their faults and lots of plastic trim for a vehicle that is approaching $80k.

 

Needless to say I ended up in a Grand Cherokee SRT.

 

If it was my money and I needed a large three-row vehicle I would look in a Nissan Armada platinum or wait on the new Expedition

You cannot go wrong with a Land Cruiser they are one of the best vehicles made today and will last you forever if you take care of them. Plus they drive great in the snow and sand.

Like my iron sets I've had very few cars. 2005 Toyota 4 runner...245k miles on it and never an issue. I'm sold on Toyota considering I have not had a car payment since 2009!!!

Had a 2015 Yukon Denali and then traded for a 2016 Yukon XL Denali. While I love the large SUV for family, vacations, etc, I will probably never hit another GM vehicle.

 

The transmission frequently jerks forward. Literally feels like the transmission is going to fall out. I've taken it in multiple times only for the manager to say, "that's normal". Orly?

 

Like driving with the rear windows down? Forget it, with the rear windows down, once you get above 40ish mph, there is this really strong booking noise. Like pulsating beat. Feels like my ear drums are going to pop.

I cant contribute more than this. I haven't driven the massive cars. My family is all GM now but the biggest SUV i've driven is the Cadillac XT5

Someone else said in a previous thread that they are the most over built cars in production today. Very solid cars.

I have a '15 Yukon XL SLT and really enjoy it. More power than our old Navigator. The Yukon engine was on hold when I purchased mine so not an option. I pull our 21' Nautique with no issues. The only think you miss are the throaty rumble and lousy gas mileage.

Silverado 1500HD, similar to a Denali underneath but mines an 02 with the LQ4 engine.

 

Goes well but the torsion bar suspension is horrible. Ripping it out to fabricate a coilover conversion next month

I drive a 2002 GMC Yukon XL (not a Denali) and it has 150k miles on it. It's been a great car and I plan to drive it as long as I can. Recently, I had to get the brake lines replaced and the repair shop I normal use was going to charge me $4k for this. They recommended that I replace all of the brake lines. Luckily my wife found another mechanic to do it who does work out of his residence. He charged me $1.5k and only replaced the break lines he thought were bad.

 

My wife drives a Cadillac SUV and both of our cars have the 3 seat.

 

If you can get past the lousy gas mileage, these are fine vehicles. They work well for family outings and trips. We have 3 kids, ages 8 to 13, so having more enough space is important for long car rides.
