The big story for me is the battle at the top of the rankings, for any kind of dominance. Early last year we had the Lydia/Inbee rivalry, followed by Lydia/Aria. Both feel off the perch and So Yeon Ryu snuck into #1. Is that fair? I always feel I underrate So Yeon - characterizing her as steady, but not having the big guns of other contenders. Anyway, i feel Sung Hyun/Lexi is where the action is right now.

 

Losing Ha Na to the Korean tour is a bigger story than reported.

In my opinion she is significant because her swing, her technique raise the standard for women's golf. There are longer women out there, but they tend to do it with brute force. Sung Hyun Park has a swing most male golfers could envy.

No, I'm not a big Stacy Lewis fan but that had nothing to do with why I ranked her win #7. Her win was special and what she did for the City of Houston was 1,000x more special. But it didn't happen during a major or a bigger tournament.

The dress code was a pretty big off-the-golf-course story. Otherwise, I'd put Lexi's 4-stroke penalty and "what's going on with Lydia and Ariya's game?" at the top.

I don't know! I'd really like someone in the know to tell us. It was a dramatic drop off in performance. Intersting if it is just injry, but she still participated regularly.

I heard shoulder injury at Evian. Recall she hurt her shoulder early on. Sure hope that isn't recurring. Nothing hurts like a shoulder injury, and if it's the same one coming back, that can be a career ender.

I hope not too. She was near unbeatable for a year or so. Referring to the original post, her drop-off is the biggest story of the year. Bigger than Ko's, because Lydia is still showing occasional (albeit streaky) form.
