I’ve been absent lately, but look forward to playing this Saturday and hanging with the Hive. My FIL passed away unexpectedly last month and we just moved from Annapolis to Annandale so it’s been a busy time and not a lot of golf. Looking forward to meeting GSRJC!

Squeezed in the back 9 at UMD last night, many wet spots from the rain on Tuesday afternoon but not too bad. The bunkers took a beating from the downpour, doubt they will all be repaired by Saturday.

I've never been able to get myself to listen to a full episode of his pod, and somehow the fried egg guy is getting even more tiresome.

That might be doable! River Marsh is my first choice since I work in Cambridge. But it might be a haul from OC...

The pro that turned 24 yesterday isn't JT. He's already 25. And Webb Simpson's birthday is yesterday, but he's 33 now.

My guess is that either they pulled a Sully and isn't playing but tried to play-one-on-TV. Or it really was a pro (Webb...white name!) and joking about his age.

I know it's all PGA talk from now until Sunday but I had to vent. Yesterday I played a VSGA event at Country Club of Virginia Tuckahoe Creek (Fong, I had the course mixed up). Beautiful course. Can't imagine anything better down there but heard the James River Course is even better. First off the round took 5.5 hours, by far the longest round in one of those events. Brutal in that heat. The VSGA guy running the event I think was left alone to cover all 100+ golfers. No one from the CC of VA seemed to be helping until we had three holes left.

 

I was in a cart with a dude having the worst day ever apparently while he shot a 76. Older guy, whined about every bad break, and would only calm down after each of his two birdies. Also another dude I only beat by one was in the really long stuff on one hole and barely found his ball. The grass around it was almost waist high and I'm thinking unplayable or he's going back to the tee box. When we got back into the fairway to play our shots, he grabbed a club only to lose his ball again. He found it and started pushing grass down everywhere. Ends up hitting a shot from 120 yards, nice and high, and it lands with a ton of backspin. BS. Honestly, if I had lost to him or tied him I would have called him out on that shot. The two shot penalty didn't end up mattering on the scoreboard.

 

But the worst thing was the scoring. The VSGA guy was new (I had never seen him) and again no one from the club helped him out. Usually about 30-40 people hang out afterwards to see the scores. I had packed away my gear, ate, and talked to some other golfers to come back and see a mostly blank leaderboard. After 30 minutes he had only calculated a dozen or so scores. I asked him if I could help (and so did many others) but he said he was fine. I ended up doing a ton of putting drills and chipped for a long time. He kept on saying they would mail out winnings, but the six of us that ended up sticking around kept telling him we don't live in this area. It took him TWO HOURS to hand out gift certificates. Luckily I got one and spent even more time there shopping. I ended up being at that place for nine hours. FML. Luckily I missed all the traffic coming back from Richmond. Ranting done.
