Michael newton seems to have a pretty decent swing and good ball speeds, however i noticed he has the worst Smash factor even though he middles a ton of his drives....I doubt he gets more than 1.46 with the rogue vs some other Wrxers who routinely get 1.56 and more !!!!!

Yes, the smash factors vary much between different testers...

...thus it seems, that a direct comparison between two clubs is more informative, than a single review.

Interesting that the F8+ Aldila shaft was 1/2" longer than the Rogue SZ with the Evenflow blue.

The F8+ standard is 45"...........the standard Rogue is 45.5"....why was the Rogue at 44.5"?

 

Rogue @45.5" Swingweight is D4.... 1" less @ 44.5" and SW will be close to C8!

Was the Rogue hotmelted as it had standard weights in the sole?

I haven't seen any official information so far, that the Rogue Sub Zero has a 45.5" standard length...

 

...and the tester said, that the shafts he used worked best for him.

 

That the dispersion of the F8+ was tighter despite the longer shaft, is interesting...

 

...thus, one could guess, that it is possible, to put an even longer shaft in the F8+, before the dispersion gets as big, as with the Rogue in conjunction with the shorter shaft.

Because of the different shafts, and different shaft properties, like weight distribution etc., the unknown real weight of the heads etc. it is hard to judge what the real swingweight was,

and whether he is someone where swingweight matters, or not.

 

Maybe he is a MOI sensitive guy?

 

How can you know the MOI?

This vid demonstrates the limits of testing, even head to head, because no one at the tester’s skill level can put the same swing on 10 balls. Sample size is anecdotal at best. Five balls each and hardly any of them hit in the high middle of the face, where spin drops and distance increases. He swings hard but he catches a lot of shots too low on the face, jumping up the spin.

 

Have to say, the Rogue sounds fantastic. Listened to it in Newton’s review as well and liked it. Sound is the main thing these reviews are good for to me. The data is too variable from swing to swing to draw substantive conclusions. Clearly, both of these drivers are very nice and it is all about what the player prefers.

Outside may lessen the harshness if a driver sounds harsh, but in my experience, a driver that sounds loud and tinny inside will sound loud and tinny outside. It mignt sound a little better outside, but it won’t sound good. I owned a Ping G. Great driver, and I could live with the sound. But it never sounded good indoors and it was the same on the course. May be a slight improvement taking a really loud driver outside, but I have not found it changes from really bad to great.

 

If a driver sounds good indoors, such as the G400 or Rogue, it will also sound good outdoors. Certainly have not seen one sound great inside and worse outside. I can tell when I hear them if I am interested. The videos capture sound well IMO. A really loud driver is annoying to me. It is my knock on a lot of Maltby drivers. They leave a ringing in my ears.

Looking at all those reviews, there seems to be no big difference between drivers...

 

...a proper fitting makes the difference.
