Cobra F8+ driver swing weight

Got mine on the swingweight scale, factory setup (NV 2KXV 65 green, Arccos grip). C8 swing weight. What the deuce? 4 points off the published spec.

It’s probably the grip/CobraConnect. Good thing I don’t care what the numbers are, I’m smashing this thing!

I'm guessing the swing weight of these things varies more than some other clubs because Cobra uses the same weights in every head.

 

Several of the other manufacturers use the weights to achieve the specified swing weight, which means the weights used in the head will vary somewhat due to manufacturing tolerances in the weight of the heads.

 

The Arccos grip is 1/4 inch longer than a standard grip. This should add swing weight? But then its probably a little heavier that would subtract. Their site says that with non Arccos grips the standard length is 1/4 inch shorter so I'm guessing on the average their grip adds a little swing weight (or they wouldn't make the other clubs shorter).

 

I've ordered a heavier weight from Cobra to balance the club out, pretty disappointing to have to buy a weight from them to get a "normal" swingweight on a brand new club.

Would you go with the 16g weight to replace the 12 or the 8g weight to replace the 2g? Neither would be exact for D2 but that is a secondary consideration vs overall feel in your swing.

 

I am curious how Cobra can list D2 when there are so many nice options like different grips, shafts and lengths. Some shafts are counter balanced while others are not and I believe that can change swing weight without changing overall weight somewhat.

I need to get mine on a scale too. It just seems so light. I bought a 8gram weight and put it in with the 12 gram weight and it just seems so light compared to my F7+ with the same weight configuration and shaft. I get so wild with it that it might go on the BST shortly.

D2 SW with NK Green 65 at 45.5” with Arccos. Ordered a Hzrdus Black that just came in yesterday. Also with Arccos. 46” and D6. I’ve been choking down on the green as I like a 44-44.5” shaft.

 

Club has the 12/2 weights. I figure the grip with Arccos is mid to high 60g. So cutting an inch off and putting in a normal grip might knock SW down 5 pts? I ordered the 16 and 8 gram weights and hoping that some combination of the 4 weights I’ll have will get me to D2.

My F7 head weighed 197.5 gms stock. Good bit lighter than what I saw in the LTD heads I got. I would be surprised if the F8 was much under the F7. Fortunately, weights are easy to get.

 

BTW, if your buying an off-the-rack club, you're expecting A LOT for it to be dead on specs. Just be glad it's not a clubhead where the only weighting option is hotmelt!

I usually play driver at 44.75", and added about 5-7 grams of cotton into the head (I can't be totally sure, but it's at least 5). I have great feel and awareness of the clubhead, really solid driver that I'm enjoying a lot.
