We had 4 Moose show up on the Sylvan G&CC, the 2 young calf's were on our side of the fence while the Bull & Cow were practicing their putting. Had to open up the gate on 53 Ave for the 2 Calf's to get reunited, must of been stress out they went straight into the pond for a drink before they all left, believe they had the first t-time.

My home course will be closing after Oct 12^th and I finally put everything together for a fun and one of my lowest rounds of the year yesterday.  It was a sunny warm morning with a south wind, was hitting the ball well and when we got to #8 a 343 yd par 4, I hit a high draw with a push wind that bounced a number of times on our hard fairways that the guys said you need to measure that shot, walked out to the ball my G80 said it went 326 yds my P.B. ever. Was about 19 yds from the blue pin, hit solid wedge to 3 ft & made birdie, needed to keep up my focus and ended up finishing with the same ball, a few birdies helped for 3 over 75 one stroke higher than my lowest round on this track because of a 3 putt on #18.

 

Wish the season wasn’t coming to an end. This year we won’t be traveling to Palm Springs for 3.5 months …. that sucks.  Hope your game is solid & enjoy the last few weeks before the courses close.

Had a sleeve in my cabinet, only played them in tournaments, great ball. We have the first t-time this morning .... hope the sun comes out.

 

EDIT: Was it cold here this morning only 6C when we finished, needed gloves & touque, played well again broke 80 & came home with the same Z Star Xv, bonus. Playing again tomorrow, not many days left .... Happy Turkey Weekend everyone.

It's official, my home course is closed for the season, the maintenance crew are prepping the greens this morning for winter, snow's coming to Central Ab tonight & another 2 cm tomorrow.  Not sure if any of the other courses close to home will be open much longer. Got 53 rounds in this year, lowest being a 74, handicap went down a bit, but less golf than last year due to wet/rainy spring. Need to save some coin over the off season, looking forward to trying the new Ping G425 Max and upgrading if it's as good as they say. Trust everyone had a good season & if your course is still open ... enjoy while it lasts.

Got emails from Country Hills and PlayGolfCalgary.  Country Hills is done for sure, and PGC (Heather Glen, Serenity, Blue Devil, Glen Eagles) are on a wait and see.  Time to let the elbow rest before working on the swing changes over the winter

I am hopeful but would be surprised if anything stays open. Sad time As lakeside is being redeveloped. It was a fun track and now there will be more people looking to join elsewhere. 
Good thing about winter is I have a few months to think about where to join next year. Membership might be the only way to go in the calgary market. Holy did golf ever make a strong comeback. Hope you all had a great season! I love it in this thread in March as we are all chompin at the boys to get going

Very sad about Lakeside. Hard to believe that a course like that can’t make money.

I know! That course was great for the community. Surprised that it didn’t turn a profit substantial enough to keep ops going.  Lots of clubs have membership drives going but the asking prices are so high in many cases in YYC. To lose a good track with ok value is tough

Graphite, yes, just not Steelfiber's.  Currently using the MMT 105TX soft-stepped.  If MCA delivered the 120/125 stiff as projected, I may do a re-shaft

Yes, as well as the wrists.  I went from 20 rounds each of the last three years to over 70 rounds this year.  T

 

The only issues I had with the elbow was from playing a set of irons with steel shafts for about 5 rounds and as many range sessions off mats.  For two straight months (July - Aug) I hit balls (round of golf or range time) almost every day.

Went from Project X 6.5 to Steelfiber i95 & i110  ..... it did for me.

Does anyone know of any courses reopening this week in and around Edmonton? Weather is 15 degrees all week by the looks of it. Anyone hear anything?

Fox hollow was absolutely packed today. 

 

Even though it was on temporary greens, I kinda enjoyed it. Back 9 looks like it would be fun in the summer. It was pretty windy so didn't really notice the highway noise from Deerfooot.
