Monte Scheinblum clinic

Are meals provided during the clinic or should I factor in some lunch for it?

Not provided...we typically eat in the restaurant at the golf course but in the past some have just stayed back to hit balls or do whatever. Normally some good stories are shared during lunch so I recommend going but to each their own.

Hope the weather improves for you guys. It is legit snowing at my house right now.

Right now looks like you guys are getting hammered. Forecast shows that Sat/Sun appear to be fairly nice conditions.

Yep, a bit east of Alma School near Happy Valley. I’m very close to the Tom’s Thumb trailhead in Troon Village.

Edit: my house sets at 2758’ per the county recorder. Thus we tend to be a few degrees cooler than even where you are.

Well the weekend has come and gone, and I wish my back wasn’t aching so bad to be able to play tomorrow with Monte and the guys but it is what it is. The irony is that my setup fault is the reason why my back aches so bad after golf. Oh well.

This experience was worth every single penny and I am seriously looking forward to it next year. The insight into my swing, as well as seeing the other common swing faults is truly invaluable, plus Monte is a fricking hoot to be around. Stories for days!

If any of the guys out there find your out to Tucson, hit me up. I’d love to share a beer and get a round in with any of you.

Is Monte using the wrist sensor stuff at clinics this year? Loved the pressure pad and stuff but it always nice to see your money going toward new things each year.

Yes, he used the hack motion sensor on a lot of us - myself included. The technology is pretty eye-opening.

Sweeeeet. Hopefully this is the year I break into single digits. Last year Monte helped me take 11 strokes off my HC, and we didn't even have time to cover putting.

Wow, that's a seriously impressive drop in HC!

Yep it was crazy. 2 swing moves/thoughts plus his tips on smarter play, such as bumping long chips using the hybrid and clubbing up with wedges and short irons made way more of a difference than I ever thought. Instead of trying to perfectly pump a 100 yard shot with my LW, I started taking easy/smooth PW's, and even up to 140 yards which would be a pumped PW, I'd take a very smooth 7i, or even a 6i if there was wind. It was so forgiving... A miss hit meant I was chipping on instead of a nuclear disaster which was happening at least 40% of the time before.

At the end of last season I mixed that along with getting my 6i club head speed up near 100mph using SuperSpeed Golf, made the courses I started playing at into a basic pitch and putt if I could keep my club face relatively square to my path off the tee.

All wise stuff. He talked to us all for a long time about playing smarter and using more club more often.

Yeah smart golf, even little things like which side of the box to tee up on, how to aim to a target properly, etc... It all made an impact. That and the sudden realization that feel truly does not equal real.

I had a huge issue with swaying in the BS and not getting my back hip actually around my spine so to speak. He had me do a proper hip turn which to my swaying brain felt like stack and tilt. I said no way is this going to look right... and behold he showed me the correct hip turn on video and it looked like money. It was mind boggling to me how weird and wrong that felt at first, but how natural it still looked to the unbiased camera.

Same thing now with my back swing length. I tend to get too long and that causes problems. I film myself now on the range and what feels like a Tony Finau style 50% back swing is usually pretty much a full one and I still get the same distance, but way better flight and accuracy. His lessons continue to be useful, even to this day.

Next time, more people need to make it a point to attend day 3. The information Monte gives about course management and scoring is well worth it.

Ive seen too many people thinking scoring means making more birdies when for the vast majority its about turning bogeys into pars and doubles into bogeys or better ect ect.

Always a lot of fun!
