My wife and I plan on taking a trip to Traverse City this summer. I plan on playing at least one round of golf early one morning. Looking to play Manitou Passage, Sugar Loaf, The Crown, or Pinecroft. Justing wondering if anyone has played them and which one you this is the best to play? I am about a 7 handicap so I am not worried about the diffculty.

If you have the right connections, you could head west and play Crystal Downs.

Honestly.....I would take the drive and go play Arcadia Bluffs if you can do it.....expensive but worth it.....basically Bandon Dunes in Michigan.

I have played Crystal Downs before and it was awesome. Not fan of Arcadia Bluffs, but not a bad idea. Want to play early in the morning and fly around.

Relevant thread for me as well. Swung up on a golf trip last year and played Arcadia Bluffs and loved it. Going back up this year on a family trip with my brother in law and his family. Thinking of hitting up Manitou Passage and Bahle Farms. He is a golfer but not a die hard and we are north of traverse city so those two courses seemed like good options.

I’ve played Manitou and The Crown and would say Manitou is better by quite a margin although The Crown is fun, too. Also would piggyback on those recommending Bahle. None of these are in the elite tier of courses in that area but much more affordable and all very good in my opinion.

Bahle Farms, fun layout, great conditioning and affordable. Grab lunch in Suttons Bay after at Hop Lot Brewing, amazing beer and even more amazing food, really cool place.

 

You could try calling Kingsley, call a couple months out and see if they will let you on.

 

I personally would make the drive out to Arcadia Bluffs, play Bluffs and the South course.

O ya I forgot about Arcadia South course. I don't really want to drive more than a hour so I probably hit up Manitou Passage or Bahle. I guess, I could try calling Kingsley too.

Try to get out and play Lochenheath. Very close to Traverse City, and it’s semi private. Beautiful layout and tough greens. I played there last year when my wife and I went up there, and loved that course.

I liked manitou better than the crown and bahle. Some quirky holes but also some pretty nice visuals and some fun risk reward shots

An hour north is Bay Harbor. 27 holes but Links/Quarry is the nicer two.

If willing to travel an hour North, there is Dunmaglas Golf Club. One of the more picturesque courses I have ever played.
