Six Flags was an amazing adventure in the Midwest for kids like me back then. Log Flume, Runaway Mine Train, Screaming Eagle...never had one, but people were walking around chomping on Turkey Legs.

My Missouri / Sothern Illinois cousin Stryper, That fun spot opened in 1971.

Awfully cool post you sent my way. You are most welcome. I had summer season passes at Six Flags both my freshman and sophomore years of H.S. We caught a bus off Manchester Road in Ellisville and it took us to the super city that was Eureka , MO.!

I probably saw 10 concerts in that outdoor amphitheater over those two summers. I loved riding the Screaming Eagle especially at night. The mine train was so tame by comparison. The log flume provided dozens of laughs for us as we tried so hard to tip that sucker on its side . Amen to the folks eating big ole turkey legs and walking all around. One main objective of touch and his friends was to ask random cute girls to ride the Skyway tram with us. We would try mightily to get to second base with them while riding high above the park in those hanging metal buckets. We had a fairly good success rate grabbing smallish handfuls too! lol

We had a blast every time we went to Six Flags. Oh and there was not a smart phone in anyone's hand ever, only turkey legs! Thousands of 1970's kids had the best of times at St. Louis' own amusement park.

Glad I brought cha back in time for a bit my Mid western cousin.
