Was holding onto Donovan for a later post, but you beat me too it. As another St.Louis aside, I saw Donovan open for Yes, another band I mentioned, at Kiel Auditorium, probably somewhere around 1977. My friends probably disagreed, but for me, Donovan was the better act that night. Of course they were high, and I wasn’t...no wait ?

Something I learned, and I'm using Google Chrome by the way, if you click the play button just once on the posted song it will reveal the song title and artist. Click play again and the song plays. Maybe I'm the only one that was slow to figure that out?

One of my elementary school teachers would sometimes let us play albums near the end of class. Mrs Patterson. Big as life and twice as ugly. Meaner than a snake!

A girl in our class, Beth, would bring most of the music. Typically Motown but Loco-Motion (GFR) ALWAYS got played as well.

Jonathan, a large black 5th grader, could do the Robot VERY well and we would BEG him to do it but we ALL knew if we put this record on that he could not help himself and we would cheer him on. Hope you're well, Big J.

I'm more rural than the little pink houses, but I only lived 5 miles from the Tastee Freeze that Jack and Diane hung around.

Yes Melencamp has a lot of good stuff and yes I have always been treated good when I have spent time with other midwesterners.
