Has there been any further discussion on when the new/old staff bag will be released? I could have seen the Master's as the idea time, but I also know they have had their hands full just trying to launch the new clubs.

Again, my hats off to the entire MacGregor team. Reid is a class guy and he has a staff of great people to back him up.

I personally hope MacGregor blows a few of the big OEM's out there right out of the water. It may not happen over night, but if they keep up this type of customer service and great products, they will certainly cause a real stir in the market place.

Good luck and best wishes to them!

Reid,

I probably know the answer to this, but is there any chance that the MTs can be ordered in Gun Metal and/or full Satin finish? Thank you.

The MT Pro blades come in satin and you can special order the gun metal finish, I hda aslked the rep the same question when I was there Sunday.

I am speaking about the regular MTs not the Pro-C or Pro-M. I understand that only the cup face of the MT is forged while the rest of the head is cast, so they probably can't make it Gun Metal, but I thought I would ask. I am looking to do a MT / MT Pro C combo.

Would anyone like MT irons in Gunmetal? We currently have it in the MT-Pro C's and M's and the Don White wedges...but I can make that happen in MT's also if interest is out there.

Thanks, Reid.

The more options, I think, the better.

Gunmetal looks mighty slick on your other irons. It'd look double slick with some red paintfill on the MacGregor name as well as the logo.

Some totally unsolicited advice:

MacGregor needs a really big, really powerful but cheap & smart marketing blitz. Something almost viral amonst golfers & even the general public. This thread and Reid being on this site is a very large step in the right direction.

I'm sure some of this is already in the works, but MacGregor needs to really fully update its website, especially its splash page. Seems, to me, pretty bland and simple text heavy compared with other prodcuts - and not just golf manufacturer's sites.

Someone needs to send their reps to about a dozen or two local golf courses around the US with a small camera team - some big, prestegious courses, some local muni courses - and take 2-3 sets of each of their new line of irons and a few of each drivers, woods, wedges, & putters. They should get real people & pros to try their clubs on the range and maybe let a select few play a round with them. Videotape everything. Cut promo videos that intertwine the normal golfer & pro golfer demo testimonies with slick production value graphics for each of the products. Put them on their site - all linked from the front page - and upload them to youtube and all the other video sharing sites they can think of.

Take out "What is the Matrix" like ads in print, TV & online (and not just golf sites & mags, either- news & business outlets like CNN or CNBC & Business week) that really tease the new product line and send people to the website & the above mentioned videos to get people curious & actively searching for MacGregor club information. Maybe take Greg Norman and have someone film him for a couple of afternoons playing and giving playing tips and edit a bunch of 2 minute clips & put it on the . Dress him head to toe in MacGregor gear & let the Shark speak for himself. Use their big investor & one of the best golfers to ever live to a huge advantage.

They also need to have an end-to-end path from their website to the products to how to get properly fit & buy their clubs. Like someone earlier said, that functionality is still a little broken. Put a 1-800 number up to connect directly to sales people to give the customers more information.

Have a lot of demo days in an area in quick succession. Partner with a few courses spread out in a dozen cities or so to get some buzz going amongst golfers & their golfing buddies. Nothing says "buy something" like a recommendation from a friend.

And, as everyone else has mentioned, get players signed. Use Norman's name. Put him out front. And when they do get more players signed, and they win with anything MacGregor they play - put a news bulletin on the main page. From any tour.

MacGregor could be a real big player this year if they can get their name back in the public eye & on the same level as some of the bigger names.

Just my two cents. I think MacGregor has a fantastic product line this year, and I've played their stuff for years and been extremely happy with all of it.

I'm hoping MacGregor has huge success with this new line of clubs. I'm personally very excited after seeing the new Pro-Cs. I'm planning on getting a set soon. I was blown away last week when I hit them.

What I was especially impressed with was the quality of these clubs. I really feel that they put every effort to produce a Tour like product , with the price of regular retail. What I've been frusterated with over the years, is product other manufactures push to the public marketing them as pro quality, and in reality, it's really not the same.

I would be very very interested in a gunmetal Pro C -MT combo set.

If this was possible it would be bye bye Ping!

So far, my Pro-M's have kept my MP32's in the garage. I have hit the M's vs 32's a couple of times now and the M's seem to set up just a bit better and perform better as well - for me. The 32's rounded toe has always been something I would like to change about the club and the M's have a nice clean setup. So far so good. I'm even dealing with the s300's well.

One more thing - The Pro-M's have all come in at D4 swingweight the 32's are at D2. I do have to check the loft & lie on the 32's again before I write them off.

The MP-32 can be basically labeled a cavity back because of its forgiveness. Is the Pro-M close in forgiveness to the 32s?

Thanks

I've played with both (play the MT Pro combos now) and I think

the forgiveness factor is pretty close. I can't tell the difference.

Another great thing about the MT Pro combos (see signature for my set-up)

is that the transition between the 6 & 7 irons (C to M) is not even

noticeable. They are designed and built that way.

My new WITB, I just got these today. I've also posted a pic of the MP60 9 iron in front of the Pro-C 9 iron. I can't wait to hit the links with these. Today was about 48 degrees and I was able to get out to the course to hit about a half dozen 5 irons and was very pleased with the feel and performance of the irons. This is going to be a fun year.

Shaft question...I am currently playing 5.5 rifles (in an old set of Apex blades). How would the Nippon shafts compare? Is the 1150 an equivalent (or close) to the 5.5 rifle?

Thanks..and by the way, I'm really trying to think of reasons not to get the Pro-C 3or4 -7, Pro-M 8-PW. Other than $ (in actual $, not relative to other options, as I think these are priced very reasonably), not having much luck.

I believe the 1150 Stiff would be equal to the 5.5 rifle and

there is no good reason not to get the combos.

After spending a bit of time with both the Pro C and Pro M 9 iron today, I actually preferred the C over the M. I was considering with going with a mixed set, but I didn't see any shortcomings with the cavity back v the MB. Of course, it is personal opinion, but I preferred the feel and flight of the C over the M. In the short irons, forgiveness isn't really a factor for me, as I can as easily mis hit a blade as I can a CB :man_in_love:

Following is an excerpt that I posted in another thread about a demo day that I attended:

I have been interested in MacGregor, as many of you have been, based on the 23 page thread ad that is still active since December in the tour board. I had been in email contact with their regional rep, JT Holsman, for a couple of weeks. What a great professional representative for MacGregor! Very knowledgeable and passionate about his trade, he is truly focused on customer service. I spent probably about 45 minutes talking with him and trying different combos of the irons and drivers. My favorite was the Pro C with the Nippon 1150 S. The PX 6.0 was a little stiff for me and the Nippon had much more feel than the DG. The Pro M is a beautiful club and will do very well with those looking for a traditional MB. For ME, however, after hitting both Pro C & M 9 irons, I preferred the feel and flight of the Pro C. Ball flight was slightly lower with the M, but it could have been the DG v 1150 shaft in the Pro C. Both the Pro C & M are even better looking in person than in the pics, which is hard to do. The detailing in the sole grind, toe shape and flow from hosel to clubhead is very well done. The iron is simply very well done and the only risk I see for MacGregor is how do they follow up? I can't imagine what more anyone could need in an iron. The MacGregor hitting station was right next to TM and I could not help but think about how TM seems to have adopted the Happy Meal color scheme instead of actual technological advances in its 2 month product cycles.

As much as I enjoyed the irons, I found the wedges to maybe be even better. When you look at the grinds and flow of the clubhead, you can appreciate Don White's influence on the design. Great feel, aggressive grooves and a beautiful look at setup. These were my pick of the day.

Finally, I hit the MT 460 driver with the DVS 65 shaft. I usually prefer a 75 gr shaft, but this seemed to hold up ok. Static weight of the club was lighter than I like. Ball flight in 9.5 was strong and boring and the dispersion was very good. With a retail price of $299, it was a very good value. Distance was as good as anything else I hit today, but again with the wind, it was tough to fairly judge.

Any Bay Area folks know where there are any Pro-C's in a store? No luck in the Golfsmith/Golf Mart in my neck of the woods (East Bay).

Peninsula Golf, 22 17th Ave in San Mateo. Paul is a cool guy and runs a nice little shop. Give them a call to make sure they have not sold out. Last I checked they had a ton of MacG....irons, wedges, drivers, fws, and hybrids.

(650) 345-8008

BTW, received my custom Don White's today. Look awesome. Now after waiting and waiting, you would think I would run right out the grass to give them a whirl. But no, too much going on today and through the weekend. I will be lucky to give them a whirl by Tuesday.
