I have to admit, that i didn't like the graphics on the irons. But after i went to a equipmentshow (here in DENMARK) today, and tried the blades from macgregor (with s300 SL shafts) the graphics didn't mean a daaaaam thing.

I unwrapped a 3-iron, and because they just lookked ABSOLUTELY PERFECT when i adressed it, i just smashed it with all that i had in me.

It looked soo good, that even because the 3-iron is like a steak knife in shape, i could never have imagined that i would have a mishit with those blades.

Simply: These irons where just UNBELIEVEABLE! (Do i dare to call them the holy grails of irons?)

My nike rep, from my local golf club even admitted that those irons where some of the best ever made.

As he said: Macgregor have made blade irons longer than anyone else on the market. Therefore, they know what they are doing. And these irons proofs this."

TO REID: All i can say is WOW. You blew me (far) away with these irons! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to play such well designed irons!

Thanks, Jones... :black eye:

Im from Denmark. Sorry for my poor english.

Had the chance, let me rephrase, the privelege to hit the new irons offered by MacGregor Golf last week. Not only are they the most appealing line in the industry, they outperform most, if not all other competitors' clubs. The R&D at MacGregor Golf is the most comprehensive in the business, and it shows with these latest offerings. From the PRO to the OS irons, they make you feel every bit as a professional whether you are a low to high handicap. The beauty about the line is the fit and finish where every level looks as your were playing with a PGA Tour iron. The problem with most companies designing clubs for high handicappers is just that, clubs that look like they are high handicapped...not the new products from MacGregor. Let's face it, high handicappers already know they need help with their game, but let us not have equipment that screams we are high handicappers! Before the current industry heavyweights, there was MacGregor. Most, if not all, companies have made their mark at some point with reference to MacGregor designs. Classic looks with today's most innovative technologies, will place MacGregor once again where it belongs, at the forefront of this legendary game. Here's to the next 100 years MacGregor as you rewrite history once again!

Joined yesterdy and the first post is a glowing Mac infomercial? Guess I'll always I'll be a cynic. That said, the new Pro-C's are the best looking irons out. Can't wait to try them.

These look better in person than the pics show. They are very nice and the 1150s had a nice consistent ball flight. They're short and compact heads which may not please everyone, but I personally loved them.

With the talk about forging, there was a line in the Don White article which says ..

"First the client selects one of MacGregor's raw club heads, which are made by Cornell Forge in Chicago"

would this be for a select few heads as opposed to mass produced heads .. ?

Cheers

That was for the old Personal Program Macgregor had in the mid to late 90's. They had 3 different musclebacks and two cavitybacks to choose from. Cornell Forge is out of business now, but that is the foundry that used to forge heads for Macgregor. Some of the PCB Tour were supposedly done by Miura but Cornell was doing the PCB and PCB tour heads as well. During this period Cornell was doing the forgings for Macgregor both Retail and Personal heads.

Can anyone tell me the differences in terms of playabiltiy and forgiveness betweent the MT Pro-C and the regular MT irons? Will the MTs be considerably more forgiving? Anyone want to venture a comparison for each model to another OEM in terms of playability and fogiveness? Thanks.

Major props to Macgregor for getting 'back to basics.' These new irons look amazing!

JUPITER, Fla., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- MacGregor Golf Company, parent company of Greg Norman Collection and MacGregor Golf, announced today that Michael J. Setola has been named President and CEO, effective immediately.

Setola was most recently President of Oxford Industries, where he was responsible for multiple brands and operating groups including Oxford, Lanier and Ben Sherman. Previously, he was Chairman and CEO of Salant Corporation, whose brands included Perry Ellis and Axis. Setola's background spans more than 25 years and is deep in operational, marketing, international, retail and licensing expertise.

"We are very excited to have Mike join us as our new President and CEO," said Greg Norman, Chairman of the MacGregor Golf Company Board of Directors. "He is a proven leader with extensive industry experience and expertise, in addition to being a proficient strategic planner. Mike has a long track record of transforming businesses and spearheading change. He brings a fresh vision and we are confident he can build on the momentum Greg Norman Collection and MacGregor Golf have established."

Under the new leadership of Setola, Greg Norman Collection and MacGregor Golf look to further exploit their significant growth potential in the United States and internationally. "I am excited and honored to take on this leadership responsibility," Setola said. "Greg Norman Collection and MacGregor Golf have fabulous teams and I am eager to lead that talent and chart a course that allows these two dynamic companies to reach their full potential both domestically and internationally."

Setola, who will be based in New York, officially assumes his responsibilities today.

Additionally, the company announced the resignations of Suzy Biszantz, President/CEO and Dave Hall, COO/Senior Vice President of Finance. Both have decided not to renew their employment contracts that expire at the end of February with MacGregor Golf Company. "Under their leadership, GNC experienced significant sales and profit growth across all sales channels while elevating the status of the brand globally. I am personally very appreciative of the dedication and efforts put forward by both Suzy and Dave in their years with GNC and wish them continued success in their new endeavors," said Greg Norman.

"The acquisition of the Greg Norman Collection by the MacGregor Golf Company and the transition from the adidas/Reebok organization are now complete. The company is well positioned for future growth with a seasoned and talented management team," said Suzy Biszantz. February 29th will be the last day with the company for both Biszantz and Hall. The company plans to immediately begin the search to replace both executives.

ive got to tell ya, saw the new Mac irons today, bought on site. Cant be a better looking cavity back forged anywhere. Unreal.

Were you able to demo? How is the forgivness in relation to other OEMs -- MP-60s, R7s, etc.?

The MT Pro C's are at least as forgiving as the above mentioned for me.

I've been avoiding this thread on purpose for wallet-related reasons, but I just have to say...those pictures a couple of pages back with the "DW" stamped in the sole are straight-up SICK. I just don't know what I would do with those in the bag.

I'd also like to point out (not that it hasn't been pointed out in the past) that it is EXCEEDINGLY rare for the GM of a company as big as MacGregor to pass out his email address, let alone his cell phone number and invite calls. They are either crazy themselves or supremely confident in the product. My money is on the latter.

Reid, well done. I've said it before (in this thread) but if I had the scratch to drop, it would DEFINITELY be on your product. You've moved to "front of mind" for this consumer. I applaud your efforts.

All good things to you and MacGregor
