Sunday Brunch Sarasota area...

Not sure if this is an appropriate place to discuss this, but the title does state "travel" lol.

Anyways, the wife and I are heading down to AMI next week and we were looking around for brunches with mimosas(for the wife) and I noticed Lido Beach Grille in St. Armand's/Sarasota. Was just wondering if anyone has been there lately for their famed Sunday Brunch. Been reading some very polarizing reviews, from spectacular to awful with very little in between. Wanted to get a few local's opinions before dropping that kinda coin on brunch. And if anyone has any other suggestions(the wife likes bougie style brunches with bottomless mimosas) I'm all ears.

any idea as to what their prices are for sunday brunch buffet? i know anything associated to RC can be quite costly.

Had a really nice Sunday brunch at University Park CC. My in-laws picked up the tab, so I don't know the price.

The Ritz will be the best, obviously pricey.

Pretty much on par with lido beach grille. Any idea if they offer a complimentary or bottomless mimosa option?

Don’t think bottomless , but will sometimes comp if for an anniversary, birthday , maybe first time there ? You can do the buffet which has more food than you could ever want all top notch, or order off the breakfast menu which would cost less. If weather nice you can sit outside overlooking the water.

It actually would be for my wife’s birthday, and she’ll probably just end up just eating an omelet anyways. Thanks for the info!

Good luck , let them know birthday when you make reservations. Are you playing while your down this way ?

Debating right now whether it's worth it to bring my sticks. I've only played 1 round so far this season and prior to that I only got in 7 or 8 rounds last season...last round prior to the one I played back in April was mid July...and I wasn't playing particular well then(even by my low standards lol). Was hoping to get a few rounds in the weeks leading up to heading down but between limited time and rainy weekends, just didn't happen.

You’re kind of isolated out on ami, and You have to leave the island to play anywhere. If you’re not here for that long hang out and enjoy the beach. If you do play, the closest public course that’s ok is probably the iMG academy Course. If you belong to a private club, have your pro call down to the Longboat key club and see if you can get on there.

Yeah, I played IMG and UPCC last time I was down there, but we were down for 12 days. This time only for next week. And no, I'm not a private club member so that's a non-starter obviously. Was thinking of trying River Strand if I do decide to play. Leaving tomorrow morning so I have until tonight to decide.

Also, is there any news on the red tide down there? Thought I heard traces were detected off Bradenton Beach area last month?

No red tide all good. Was really bad last summer. They’re watching for it very closely so if some random blob shows up, it’s all over the news , but for now things are nice.

Glad to hear about the tide. I will be there in July visiting parents. Anyone play the Bobby Jones course? I did play Oakford years ago.

Oakford closed awhile ago. Bobby Jones seen it’s better days. They are in the process of approving $16million to redo it totally. If it goes through the facility will be very nice.

Hit me up before you come down. I usually get several foursomes and guest passes that I don’t use, to a lot of clubs down here from gifts and outings etc. usually They are only good until October. Most years we don’t get to use them and they go in the trash because we play a lot at our own club.

Thank you very much as I really enjoyed playing there, and an 87 was a great score on top of that. I enjoyed the wildlife as it was every where. I am a bit of a bird lover, and it was quite a treat. Thanks again for your generosity!!
