Pebble Beach - 3 iron into hole 7

I’m going in blind here..

 

Please post video evidence of pros hitting a 3 iron (or more, yeahhh) into the 100 yard par 3, 7th hole at Pebble Beach. I’m not saying it never happened... I’d just like to see proof.

I think Tom Kite's 6 iron in the 1992 is the longest club for video that currently exists. There may have been longer clubs used that day. Someone once posted the final round that day on Youtube, but I think the USGA had it taken down.

In a strong enough wind, I can see an old school 3-iron being used.

 

Much weaker loft, spinny wound ball, etc.

I was behind a tree on our 12th hole Friday and hit a 4 iron from 85 yards to keep it below the overhanging limbs. Just because you have a long iron doesn't mean you have to hit all of it.

Have heard of 3 irons being used there several times - they aren’t blasting them full steam into the wind, it’s a chippy swing. Have also heard of a prominent player putting it off the tee to ensure a 4 at worst. I want to say Sam Snead but not anywhere near certain on that.

Ian Woosnam has said in many interviews over the years he hit a chipped 3 iron in 92 where winds blew like 50-60mph. there were lots of 5-6 irons that day. by the time kite came there he hit a 6 on sunday.
