Stitch SL2 Bag

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a Stitch SL2 bag which is their new double strap bag. I have held off getting an SL1 because I like to walk and carry and use the double strap a lot.

The finish on the bag is great and the pockets seem to have plenty of space for everything. The bag at about 4 pounds is heavier than the Sun Mountain Swift I have been carrying for about 20 years but it seems to be very balanced and doesn't seem to carry much heavier. Due to work I won't get to put it to a full test until probably early next week.

For me if the SL1 had a full pocket on the right side and a double strap it would have been the perfect bag I love the size. I know the SL1 was designed with caddies carrying double in mind which is part of the reason for the design.

I can’t play until next week so I will give a full review of the SL2 then.

Looks sweet, but I can't justify a $300 stand bag :o

Do you carry 14 clubs? Have you experienced club tangle or difficulty removing the clubs? Do you use an oversize putter grip and, if so, have you had difficulty with ingress and egress? Thanks in advance for answering these queries.

Haven’t carried it yet but I do carry 14 clubs and I don’t expect any tangling issues. I am playing Tuesday and will be in a cart so it should be a good test for tangling. I carry a 38” putter with Superstroke belly length grip on it which is slightly oversize but not huge.

Used mine for the first time today. Very light weight, partially because of the construction but I also think because of the lack of pocket space forcing you to carry less. I carry 14 clubs and my putter has a Super Stroke grip on it, I had zero issues with tangling. I think the downside to the bag are the legs, I felt like they were a little unstable compared to my Sun Mountain bag. I think it could also use a rubber piece on the bottom of the bag to keep it from sliding on smoother surfaces.

Played in a cart with the SL2 yesterday. The top is plenty big. I had an extra driver in the bag and there was no problem with having 15 clubs in the bag with tangling. I had a short sleeve rain jacket in the side pocket and I could have put my rain pants in.

I am walking 18 with it on Friday morning and will give a full report after that.

Carried the new rig on Friday. The bag is very well balanced at 4 pounds it is 1.5 lbs heavier than my Sun Mountain Swift but it didn’t carry any heavier. The pockets were plenty big. I didn’t have a rain jacket in it but I did put one in it and it fit fine with a little extra room.

Clubs went in and out with no tangling. The stand was stable but I do get the point about it being a little slippery if you put it down on pavement.

The one thing I would like to see on it is a water bottle pocket on the top of the bag. There is a plastic lined pocket at the top of the pocket for golf balls but I would prefer a location along the top ridge between the two pocket near the bottom of the bag.

Just curious to hear what you guys thought about the legs, my opinion has been that they felt a bit unstable.

Just seems a tad wobbly, but I came from a Sun Mountain bag also and those legs are real sturdy.

Just returned mine. Love the look, and that it will stay upright like a staff bag. Sill no place to store the rain cover. They would be better served to ship with a light weight nylon cover instead.

I would be surprised if there aren’t more colors.

I have now carried 5-6 rounds plus a few 9 holes. The bag carries very well and there hasn’t been any issue with the legs. I am coming off a 2.5 lb bag so I do find it a little heavier than that. I like a carry bag to be as light as possible but most people are fine in 3.5-4 pound range.

I’ve had my SL1 for less than a yr. and last week I couldn’t find my range finder which I was sure was in my bag. After looking everywhere. I came to realize the pockets had torn for inside so my range finder was inside at the bottom of the bag. The inner layer is not very durable. Couldn’t believe they didn’t even last a yr. I do play every weekend.
