G410 Hybrid Stock Shaft Options

Was wondering if anyone has been able to compare the Tour 85x, Even Flow Black 6.5 and the CK Blue 80 TX? All three seem like solid options and I believe the CK in the TX is the real deal.

I’ve tried all three except the EF was a 6.0. The Tensei was the softest and whippiest. The EF was a tad stiffer but still too light and the bend point was lower than I wanted, and the 85x is pretty close but I’d like something a touch softer in the middle to just below the grip ideally. The 85 is phyisciallyba big shaft too. It looks like it has a short parallel section and tapers to a big butt. Mine measured .600 where the grip ends and the stock 580 grip made it hard for me to adapt. I had my club guy put a iomic sticky and stretch it down to standard diameter. The 85 is also the heaviest. 87 grams cut to install vs 82 for the others. I’m guessing 90-94 grams at 42 inches?

Did you try the Tensei in the TX flex? Cant imagine it was soft? Maybe though

I hit (have) the Blue TX and it's not soft. It actually plays tight IMHO. I also have the EF in both the S and X and they both perform well, with the X helping guard against the left side more than the S.

> Yeah the Tenseis play soft imo. I think it’s partly due to Ping not tipping them. I swung the 80S only once because I thought I’d break it.

Not to call you out or anything, but just wondering where you got the info that Ping doesn't tip their hybrid shafts. I have the g410 4H in a Tensei 80 stiff and it feels great for me, so I would find it unbelievable that a 4H shaft isn't tip trimmed. A 2H, I can understand but not a 3, 4 or 5H.

I did purchase the G410 2 crossover when it came out with the Tensei TX and requested they tip it 1” and they literally wouldn’t do it. So he may be right there.

From a Ping tech. Great guy but can’t remeber his name off hand. I asked about tipping on the tour and Tensei shaft and he said they don’t tip them in the 2-3 and IIRC start tipping w the 4 (.5”). I have a thread back a couple months called “Tensei Pro blue hybrid” with probably more detailed info. I’m mobile now

They told me if I wanted it tipped I just have to request it. The TX felt so soft in my 3 hybrid tho I was scared off by it. Thought about the 90TX but it was too expensive. Maybe the crossover is different.

Had the Tensei 80TX in a 19* and it played pretty soft. Like couldn't control it soft. So I believe it if they didn't tip it.

  • 7 months later...

I played the ping tour (x) all last year and never felt great with it. Play KBS c-taper x-stiff and have hazardus yellow in woods, and the ping tour was just the one shaft that wouldn't work. Couldn't get a consistent ball flight with it. I switched it out with an Accra TZ5 M5 this year and its been a night and day difference.
