New Clicgear 4.0?

Recommended Posts

The 3.5 was already a great cart, but there look to be a number of nice improvements here. In particular, I like the idea of an adjustable upper saddle, and raising the lower saddle to prevent bags from rubbing on the wheel is huge. I had the bag height spacer on my 3.0 and it worked, but was a bit clunky.

I've had my 3.0 since 2012, so it might be time for an upgrade when these become available in the US.

I currently have a 3.5 with the tour bag kit. I don't have the tour bag kit because I need it for clearance. I have it because I really like that it makes the bag stand more vertically. This makes it easier to get clubs in and out of the bag and it creates more space over the handlebars which gives better access the handlebar compartment and netting.

With the new adjustable upper saddle, I'm certain that the existing tour bag kit won't fit the 4.0 and I am concerned that there won't be one that will work with the new upper saddle. That would be a shame. If so, I'm sticking with the 3.5.

That looks cool, but I've got the 3.0 and just have a hard time replacing it to be honest (unless I just HAD to spend money on golf). Clicgear carts are so great that mine is still running along just fine after 7 years.

I'm still using an original Clicgear (1.0). The only thing I've done to it was to replace the original pneumatic tires for the airless ones a few years ago. Still works like a charm, and I think it may be close to 11 years old!

Probably the single best golf-related purchase I've ever made. That said, it might finally be time to retire the old girl for something new ...

I had a Clicgear 3.5 then the upper bag strap broke. I could have picked up the phone and called Clicgear to get a new upper assembly and it looks easy enough to replace. Just a few screws, but I saw a Caddytek Caddylite EZ 8 cart that looks similar to the Clicgear for half the price, so I picked one of those up. I ended up giving the Clicgear to my brother who got the part and fixed it. I actually like the Caddytek more.

They addressed everything that is horrible about the 3.5+ except the water bottle holder. That thing is a POS.

Clicgear 2.0 had just a hole. Can’t really screw that up.

I may have to wait for this to come out. I was completely sold on a BIG MAXX being my next push cart but a better 3.5+ may keep me with Clicgear. Mostly because the Clicgear is $100-$150 cheaper than Big MAXX.

Thanks for the info.

I have a 2.0 with 600+ rounds on it. I gave that to my son when I bought a 3.5+, which I now have about 600 rounds on.

The lower strap tore off in the first month. I have no idea why. But you really only need the top strap so not a big deal.

The cup holder add on is awful. It has an open side, so if the cart hits a bump, the heavy water bottle falls out. Over and over. I have so many dents in my water bottles over the years, and broken welds, because most “bumps” on a golf course are on cart paths. The 2.0 had just a hole. My water bottle never ever fell out.

The front part where your bag sits is WAY too low. 99% of my rounds the cart starts giving after a while and at some point, my bag will be sitting on the wheel. The clearance they built into the 3.5+ was a joke for nearly all bags. The 2.0 also had this problem. The “fix” was to buy their “step” or build one yourself. PITA.

You are pretty much restricted to hybrid cart bags made specifically for push carts. If you try to put a Sun Mountain C130 on there, all the clubs are completely wonky and it doesn’t work. Unless you want to put it on the cart upside down, but then you can’t get to the zippers.

The clearance from the bottom clubs to the scorecard holder area is too small. I can even use the lowest 3 holes of my bag. I won’t be able to grab the wedges. So I keep my wedges in the putter well with the putter.

There is no way to REALLY adjust the front wheel to keep it aligned correctly. I mess with it, but it just makes it roll LESS crooked. It never gets all the way “straight”. Plus it takes two different wrenches and a screw driver to adjust it. It’s not something you can do on the course.

Amazing I’ve put 1200+ rounds on these things with as many gripes as I have. :)

The reason I keep using them is they fold up real small. I can fit two carts and two bags in my trunk of my car. They are completely reliable. They unfold and work every single time. I have to do minimal maintenance on them. Tighten some nuts every other year when it starts to sag.

My friend got a 4-wheel sun mountain that folds up smaller than my Clicgear. I’m leaning toward that one now. But it’ll be really hard to give up on known Clicgear reliability. His cart doesn’t even have a bottle holder, so that’s a deal breaker, but the smaller fold size may be a decent trade off.

I’ll wait to see a 4.0 in person, now that I know it’s coming out, before I make my next cart purchase.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
