Golf really is amazing

Hello!

This is my first post after lurking these forums for almost a year now. Like many others, I was inspired by Tiger Woods at the Masters last year, and immediately wanted to try golf for the first time. Although my first range session was filled with shanks and slices, there was one ball that I felt I absolutely CRUSHED. Of course, as an absolute beginner, I wasn't able to replicate that swing again. Even though it was just one ball, I was desperate to experience that feel of striking the ball pure again, Since then, I have watched countless video lessons on Youtube and eventually found my way to Golfwrx.

I'm not afraid to admit that I am absolutely obsessed with golf now. Even though I bought my own set of clubs, I still get excited when new clubs/equipment get released. I follow the PGA and keep tabs on how certain players are doing. Every time I read about a new swing thought/feel/technique that might be able to help my swing, I can't wait to get out to the range to try it.

I've been to the range countless times now and go out to the local courses whenever I can. Through my work, I've had the opportunity to play courses in different states and was lucky enough to play the Merion Golf Club (East) just outside of Philly. I'm blessed to have playing partners in coworkers and friends who share the same love for golf. Best of all, I have a wife who supports my newfound passion even though she doesn't understand why I keep going back to a sport that causes me so much frustration.

This past weekend I shot an 85, breaking 90 for the second time ever and for the second time in a row. Best of all(or worst of all), I felt like I could have scored even better if I didn't end up 3-putting so dang much. Thank you to Monte, Jim Waldron, and everyone else on these forums giving guidance to newbies like me. I still have a long way to go before I can call myself a "good" golfer, but I'm looking forward to the journey.
