Pulling Iron Shots

For some reason, I cannot stop pulling iron shots... It happens most frequently with wedges, which should obviously be my scoring clubs. It's absurdly frustrating to be 140 out and end up with a 40 foot lag instead of a makable birdie putt. HELP.

[Disclaimer: not an instructor] Really nice swing! I stepped thru frame by frame, and the only thing I see is that you get a little laid off in the second half of your backswing, then a little steeper coming down. (Hard to tell for sure, because your camera angle is bad. Needs to be at hand-height.) Perhaps you're slightly out-to-in at impact, leading to the pulls. Maybe move the ball back in your stance a tad? Or weaken your grip a tad and embrace a fade?

I do feel a little shallow during the second half of the backswing, and steep at transition.

Hip turn on down swing is early.

Shift with some downward movement in the center of the pelvis will delay the turn slightly. See Mcilroy, woods, etc. That will likely shift the path right and stop the pull.

I'm not a pro either.

But I would maybe look at the shut face at the top of your swing. When you get to waist high at the down swing, it's already closed and in a position to come over the top.

I'd start by looking at your grip. Then address your takeaway. On the backswing, club is getting behind your body. A flat turn with a shut face, is going to require a lot of timing to hit it straight.

Also not an instructor, but have you had a club fitting? Perhaps your clubs are too upright, this can present a left miss bias since the face will actually point more to the left as the shaft lays down and the loft increases.

Monte is correct. I have the same problem with pulls and pull draws/hooks. I specifically watched your left knee as it externally rotates immediately from the top of the swing. This causes a chain reaction of things opening up too early; first your hips, then your shoulders. This causes the lead arm to “pop out” and point to the target too soon, which leads to your path going left. Hence the pulls.

That is purely my speculation.

Thats a better camera angle. Looks to me like you're definitely steepening early in your downswing and coming slightly over the top. Listen to Monte on how to fix.

Would like to see hands a little higher with less depth, so bring shaft more inward than you do, and with a little cup in wrist up top and let pivot remove the cup, Pretty good responsive move overall based on how you're proceeding, but you're gaining too much depth on back swing for your rate of turn and thus causing shaft to kick out steeper on the return.

Camera angle poor - too far from right. First video angle was better but needs to be aimed at the hands not on ground pointing up.

Doesn't appear much different. Making a significant change isn't a small bucket affair. Best course would be to get a dtl and fo video and send it to Monte for a lesson.

Check your lie angles. Can make a huge difference with the short clubs.
