What shall I buy?

I’ve just sold a TS3 hybrid 19*, which I really liked but I want 20y more at least. I struggled to hit it any further than my 21* degree TS2, ball flight also very similar.

The new club will primarily be used as a tee club so distance and accuracy is key.

I’d prefer a hybrid but will consider other clubs. It will only very occasionally be used from the fairway as the two courses at my club are relatively short, ideally I’ll get 220y carry.

For reference I normally score about 10 over par, my weakness is off the tee, some days I’m good, some days I hit everything left. My irons and wedges are all good, and if I can keep my tee shots in check I’m likely to score 5-7 over par.

Ball flight is typically high with lots of spin, I don’t need a club that helps me get it in the air, that’s really not an issue. I’d prefer a club that I can do an iron-like swing on in an ideal world. And with a deep/tall face ideally.

Suggestions please.

I would suggest you give PING or Srixon Hybrids a try. Srixon's aren't real popular but I've had good luck with them and you can generally get them for a good price.

I’ve tried a G410 #3 and didn’t like it, the head is a funny angle which didn’t suit my eye, almost recessed, and I just couldn’t get on with it. Hence why I bought Titleist which I do really like how they sit, just want a bit more distance.

Why not get the 19* TS2?

Concur with EF 3Hy; 18°, adjustable, long & forgiving, and recently marked down. Sticking w/Titleist, I’d test out TS3 5W 18°, TS2 2Hy 17°, and U-500 2U 17°. If I had the swing speed for a strong driving iron, I’d get both 5W and 2U, switch it up depending on the course.

P790 UDI

Although I've never hit them before, I've heard good things about the srixon utilities and the Titleist U500/510

I tried a P790 UDI. It’s not printable what I thought of it, but suffice it to say I can hit my 8I further than I could hit that monstrosity. No such problems with a couple of Crossovers, a Cobra Utility and a Wilson Staff Model Utility, apart from the fact I maxed out at about 200y with all of them. Same instore with a U510. That TM though was an absolute horror.

 

To be honest, I hit a hybrid way more consistently than a utility.

Other way round. I think the original marketing press pack got it wrong as at launch all the magazines said what you’ve said about the TS2 in 17*. But it’s the opposite.

@Joelsim I'd suggest a Cobra Forged Tec 3i. Play it at standard length and maybe get it bent 1* strong.
I just replaced my Cobra 3U with one and it is is much better. Narrower sole so it plays like an iron, foam filled so it sounds better, and it hits bullets.

I know what you mean. If Ping did a G410 3I, I’d order one right now at power spec loft. Quite why they don’t offer anything above a 4I is beyond me. Nonsensical, just because they’re GI clubs doesn’t mean some people don’t want a 3I.

Why don’t you give Titleist a ring and ask them? They obviously make them as they sell them here. Ridiculous that they don’t seem to have been released in the country they’re from.
