Could this be the first tournament this season that it'd take a score better than -20 to win?  Even though it's a 3-rounder.

 

With all the happenstances, each tournament this year has been on demanding courses,.  That's all well and good.

 

But once in a while a change of the flavor of the day is warranted.

I'd say no. Only once before has the winner shot 20 under or better, i.e. Nasa in 2018.

I noticed that.

 

The forecast is conducive to low scores.  Also, players's hands have been tied for several weeks; they're finally free to show how good they're!

I think I am in the minority here, but I like the occasional tournament where the scores are super low.

Well, so far, if "trends" go well, it will definitely be heading to -20 levels after 3 rounds... (then again, way too soon/early)... only 9-10 holes have passed but leaders are at -5!!!

No surprise the birdies are out there. 'Still don't think 20+ under will win it, but they may get close. What's surprising is the number of over par rounds. Celine shot 3 over, a bit of a surprise.

Celine has been struggling ever since she missed that 4 footer to tie Daniellle Kang for a playoff at Drive On.

 

Golf is so psychologically driven; it's probably 30% mental, 70% physical.

Course seems to be unforgiving if you go off target - lots of double/triple bogeys today in their cards... if you don't miss, it seems to be a chance for birdie all the time...

The problem with a low score tournament is that there isn't any "Law and Order" when every player goes low.

 

None of the the Top-9 players after Round 1 ranks inside Top 9 of the money list.

 

This tournament will be a big scramble to the end; and it looks like cutline will be -3.

It's nice to have Golf Channel back, period.  The cameras are right into the course and players, it's almost like we're right there.

 

The British or Australian coverage are so different; it's always like reruns of old tournaments.

I'd love to see a statistic comparing time spent analyzing a putt vs the make percentage. I'm guessing one can miss just as easily spending 30 seconds looking at the line compared to over a minute.

We did get the 2 hours of coverage - IF you taped the half hour following the scheduled coverage. Golden Rule: always tape more time!

Brooke been through about 50 putters in the last few years lol.  I did think this was a new one though, not sure what it is but after watching her putt the last 2 events I might suggest she try the bunker rake, cause it couldn't hurt lol

That's interesting, Brooke was diehard loyal to Ping in the past, none of her clubs ever deviated from the Ping brand even with the putters.  This could have been due to a previous contract stating these requirements.  Although I think their relationship changed, last season Brooke switched her visor to Sketchers from Ping.  And Ping if you pay attention is a big sponsor for women but I think there's a big difference between how they deal with men and women.  I remember the release of the G400 Bubba was given the new driver for competition before the clubs release and Brooke wasn't given one till after the club was released to the public.  Maybe Brooke had access but decided to wait and get the feel  for it, I just noticed the pro guys had access to it before the pro girls.  I understand taking the sponsorship money involved but I never understand being willing to lock yourself into using equipment that maybe a weak or inferior line of clubs just cause it's your sponsors new line.  I remember when Rory took the money and signed with Nike to use their equipment and he disappeared off the planet for a couple of years.  So hopefully for whatever circumstances Brooke can choose the equipment she likes to use, Ping has always made decent drivers IMO but there are some other good ones and maybe there's one you can hit just a little bit better if you experiment.

just rained/thunderstorm'd in the course now (11am course time) -- who benefits from this?  then again, I'm no weather forecaster, and argonne did say there's rain at 6pm or thereabouts... (eg more rain or is this 11am rain the rain that was being forecasted already?)

i would have beat you to my question had i typed faster or shorter ? the question i wonder about is: what does this all mean to the players on the course, about to be on the course (and i don't think anyone's in the clubhouse anyway)....

I would seem that Brooke and Nasa exchanged putters for this round lol  SYK when she gets it going she can go stupidly low.

Nasa also benefitted from the rain delay actually... or is it just in the holes of the course that they're in... (I'm thinking more of the former though) based on what i see...

Nasa has a birdie and 2 pars since the rain delay and depending on where they were on the 9th when they delay hit it hasn't hurt her, but the delay was very quick.
