P790 price drop any time soon?

I'm on the market for a new set of irons and I really have my heart set on the 2019 TaylorMade P790s. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if, now that the 2020 P770s are out, they will soon see a drop in price. I really want to pull the trigger and buy some now, but I'd kick myself if in a month or two the price goes down. Does anyone know when historically TaylorMade tends to drop prices of the previous year's model clubs? Or have any insider info about this? Thanks and happy golfing, all!

Find a mint used set.  They have to be almost free in the US as you can find them for $1k here in the GTA.  Even some of the black finished ones for under $1k for a 5-AW set.  A friend of mine found a set of 6-AW black for $650 a month ago.

Well... I have no meaningful knowledge to answer this question but I'm going to anyway. I would guess that there  would not be a price drop on the current P790 until there is a new P790. The P770 isn't a replacement for the P790, they are aimed at different golfers (790 being more forgiving). If you look at TM's P series blending chart for combo sets it wouldn't appear that they would have no intention or reason to drop the P790 price.

I agree, I see the P790 as still having a valid place in TM's P lineup.

They are still selling like hotcakes and TM has not been refreshing them every year, I dont see a price drop anytime soon

Keep an eye out for sets that people order custom and then back out of or situations similar to that. I just found my 4-pw set brand new in plastic exactly to my specs for $850. Spent a long time looking and being patient and it finally paid off.

I agree that prices will not be dropping now that TM is using the "sibling rivalry" marketing. 

However, fair deals are able to be found. 

 

Keep an eye on BST. I will possibly be listing my set there in the next few days.

Thanks all. Most of your replies pretty much confirmed what I was thinking, which is that the price may not be coming down any time soon. I should have mentioned that I play irons 3/4" to 1" long, so I do need a custom set. I've been keeping my eye on eBay but they don't come around too often, and they end up being only a couple hundred bucks cheaper than if I buy a brand new set (a buddy of mine works at a large golf retailer and can get me a small discount), so I may just end up buying them new.

The price won't be dropped until the 2021 P790's come out. Even then it would be a month or two after those are announced officially.

The P790s are backordered a lot of places. Why would TM lower the price if they can't even fill the orders they have?

Tho it depends on your level of want/need in golf, you can just re-shaft a set.  I found my set after mentioning going the used route for $950 cdn, I pulled the shafts and rebuilt my way and will end up getting $200 or so for the shaft that were in it, less than $750 likely total.
