Anyone try using two different size grips on woods then irons! What do you think??

So,  I tend to fight a draw that can turn into a hook with my driver and fairway woods.    I’m an older low single digit golfer.   So what I am thinking of doing is going to a midsize grip on my woods but keep the standard size grip on my irons.  I feel that with a larger grip on my irons I don’t make a consistent release.  I’,m thinking that going to midsize on my driver it may give me the green light feeling of swinging full throttle without the fear of the lefts.   I know that there is more at play when the driver goes left but still think a more substantial size grip might help.   Ive tried building up the lower right hand with build up tape and have also tried the plus 4 style grips.  Not sure I love the feel of either.  That’s why i’m thinking of trying midsize.  Would really appreciate any opinion on this .   Thanks!!!

I went to all Lamkin oversize grips from standards on woods and irons a couple of months ago but aside how much more comfortable they feel, I don’t feel it had any effect on my direction. I then switched irons and got midsize, Tour Velvet with 3 wraps on them. Again, no change to my shot shapes.

I normally play midsize tour velvet or crossline on everything. Had a stint for a few months with a ping g410+ driver and threw an oversize grip on it. I loved that combo because the head was heavy and the heavier bigger grip felt better. When I switched to a sim I tried the oversize grip on it and hated it, back to midsize.

As mentioned there is more going on with the driver/woods. Try changing the lie angle or face angle. What driver/woods are you using?

Driver: Sim OG 8* (-2g), Diamana ZF 40x

3wood: Sim Ti Rocket 14*, SMT 3390 Tour V 50x

5wood: Sim Ti @18*, SMT 3390 Tour V 50x

4i-GW: Ke4 Max (-8g), SMT Bassara 65x +1"

SW: CBX2 52*, Rotex Precision 90g wedge flex

LW: Tour Grind MG 60*

Grips: Lamkin Crossline 58r

BPlaying 410 plus driver.     Love look of ping drivers but never get results I hope for .. not sure why .

try moving the weight toe side first and if that doesn't do it then open it one notch. I think there is also the flatter lie angle on that driver too while still keeping the face angle and loft the same?? someone else will be able to confirm I'm sure.

All of those will help fight a draw.

I went to a 'Star' grip (the one with little holes all over the surface, black/tacky feel), it's fairly fat, I think it's midsize but it doesn't say on the grip and I use it with 4 wraps so it's stout.  Did that after my wife came back from the local golf shop complaining of how her hand hurts (she had this trigger finger thing, but cortisone shots helped) and the guy at the golf store gave her a couple of grips to try and she likes the wider grip so she brought home a bunch and had me re-grip her clubs....while I was handling them, I sort of liked the feel as well, and I had her get me 8 and then another 8, lol... I did my irons, driver, hybrid, 2 sets of 5/7-woods.  I really like them.

I use the MCC plus4 standard on my driver, 3w, and hybrid. The Tour Velvet align standard on 4-gap. And tour velvet standard on the 56* and 60*. While they are all "standard" there is a subtle difference in girth and feel between each. Works for me...it's a process.

If that works for the OP, fine.

All my clubs have standard TV Align grips with +3 wraps.  If I want a full release I use Vardon grip which provides a higher trajectory.  If I want a more boring lower trajectory, I use a reverse overlap grip.  The latter grip tends to limit my release and allows more right side transitioning power through the ball.
