Rattle in sim max driver head

My sim max driver head developed a rattle two weeks ago and I’m not sure exactly what inside the head came loose that is causing the rattling. Has anyone experienced this?
 

The head is hot melted so I would have expected the hot melt to catch any loose piece. There is no rattling after the club sits for a while, presumably because the loose piece is stuck on the hot melt, but after one hit the rattling returns. Is there a safe way to heat these composite heads so that the hot melt gets a little softer and catches the loose piece inside?  Thanks in advance!

It is most likely a piece of epoxy as the crown and the two pieces of the sole on either side of the inertia generator are epoxied on to the titanium body which creates more of an opportunity for excess epoxy residue inside the head, some of which can chip off. You're right in that the little chip is likely partially stuck in the hotmelt when it isn't rattling and that heating the hotmelt to "absorb" it more would be a good option. If the epoxy is in the inertia generator portion of the head then some directed heat to that portion of the metal from either a hair dryer or a heat gun should be able to soften the hotmelt enough, but IMO it is always a concern when you have other more heat sensitive materials and finish elements nearby. I would first remove the rear weight and see if the rattling piece is small enough to be shaken out of the screw hole.

You can take the shaft off and see if it’s small enough to come out through the slot where the shaft screws on. 

can heat the head and see if it catches 

or drop some rat glue into the slot and shake to see if it catches

If it were summer time I'd say just take the head off and leave it on your dashboard for a couple of hours in the sun.

 

If you have a heat lamp or small space heater just leave it in front of that until it gets warm to the touch and that should be enough to get any hotmelt or rattle stop to soften up enough to catch it permanently.

Could also be the hotmelt used.  Did you have this professionally done by someone with real hotmelt ?  Cheap hotmelt, rat glue, even epoxy is used inside heads to mute them and unfortunately can dry and crack and create a rattle.  

 

If it's real deal hotmelt and done by a professional then it's most likely some epoxy and you can loosen the rattle then heat the sole and get the piece stuck in the melt then let cool down.

If the hotmelt was done by someone without much experience, it could be the hotmelt.

The hotmelt has to be pooled together to remain stable.

If the hotmelt is done in small burst, it could result in smaller beads that will break away and rattle, then settle until it is hit and then rattle again. It can also result from smaller beads of hotmelt injected in the head if the hotmelt is not heated enough to flow freely and pool together.

 

If it is a hotmelt bead, the rattle willl be quite loud.

A more subtle rattle is probably a bead from the manufacturing process the has broken away.
