MB/CB combo to GI

Still striking it ok with the Titleist's but just not hitting it solid. Misses are usually short due to poor contact - chipping and relying on the putter to score. Generally will have 27-31 putts but with the recent iron misses, if the putter is not hot it's a high score. With the cold coming, I thought it was a good time to experiment with the friendly irons and stronger static lofts. Maybe by March I will be back with the MB/CB combo.. we will see.

I’m about the same HC. I have some swing tendencies that can lead to the same. Not going to get into what they are as it doesn’t really matter. The main thing is, if you are good enough to play to a + standard, you don’t need to jump to chunky to fix it. I find they aid in launch rather than actual heel or toe protection. Just go back to basics, work with a pro, and get back to compressing the ball.

Gotcha. How much you played in those 3 months? I play my irons bent weak coming from an old set of WS blades. Ordered my new set 2 * weak to add a tad bounce too. Putting kills me for whatever reasons. Thanks for responding and good luck in your search.

I do something most days - short game 3x week in the AM before work, hit balls most week nights and probably play 45 holes/week. Given the static lofts on my new Srixons I could foresee bending them a few degrees weak. General 7i carry with 718 MB is 170.

Haha you’re not wrong. Probably going through something.. but it’s cold here in TN. Ball isn’t flying as far, feel like if there’s a ever a time to experiment it’s now.

I’ve been fighting this problem pretty hard the past couple years not putting my ego aside...I have not gamed them yet but I really liked the PXG 0211 on the range. Really soft for a cast iron (bag chatter soft), and really easy to strike center.

Down to one bucket of balls a week (or less) and then showing up to my 1-2 tournaments a year and subsequently either shooting 80 or 100 just plain isn’t cutting it anymore for my mp32. Ive found the Vapor Pros to be a bit more forgiving though, if you can stomach Nike. They have weight out towards the toe to help those of us toe strike missers.

I am a 0.6 right now and use Ping G410s, my previous set was Apex Pros from Callaway and before that JPX850 forged.

My handicap didn't really change using the Pings , but i feel i'm hitting the ball better. A lot goes into golf obviously, i had some short game woes this year

OP I'm surprised no one has mentioned turf interaction of going to a much wider sole.  I'll be curious to hear your comments of that difference, and how you find the V-Sole

This is one of the things I am most interested in... I have a steeper swing (6'4") and my miss has historically been hitting a touch behind the ball. Hoping the V-Sole helps some with that.

FWIW i am a pretty big sweeper of the ball ( i rarely take divots). I wouldn't think something like a G410 which has a wide sole with a lot of bounce would be good for me....but it's been totally fine

545’s have arrived. Having them put on TI x100’s tmrw.

Went to the range today for a few hours and was absolutely striping the golf ball with the MB,CB’s. Should be good timing, as this was the best I’ve hit it in months. Hopefully will provide a fair comparison between the MB,CB’s and the 545’s.

Also with the static lofts of the 545’s thinking of having my 50 degree wedge bent to 48 for proper gaping. I believe the 545 PW is something like 44 degrees.
