Thank you Sense Gold and Golf WRX!  I am was extremely excited to win this one.  My grip already arrived, and I will give it a go here shortly and share feedback with the group.  

 

The grip feels solid and on the firm side out of the box, hoping this will provide a high level of feedback once installed.  Everything seems high quality.  I can comment on ease of use once installed.  Think this is going to go on the Golo 6 in the picture below.  I love the shape of this putter head, and will give the Square Sense Grip/ putter combo a fair shot at the putter slot in my bag.

Sense R1 Putter Grip review..

 

I just wanted to share my experience with the Sense R1 Putter Grip kit I won at WRX..

 

Installing the putter grip was simple and easy.  Make sure to use the level that came with the grip, the alignment is crucial.

It was very simple to add weight and love the adjustment you can make with he weights.

I added 30gram weight at 6 inch from the top, this way the weight is at my right hand (Dominant Hand) location.  I used to have SuperStroke counter weight setup prior.  The big advantage for Sense R1 is that you can adjust the weight location within the shaft.

 

This helped with my yips with my dominant hand.  I played Saturday morning with the new putter and felt very comfortable.  I could be my honeymoon phase, but definitely was able to control my distance, which was my main issue.

 

Update after second round..

 

So, I love the grip feels and performance.. It got rid of my most of my issues.  My only Gripe are the tips of the grips (the top and the bottom)..

They are so soft easily scratched.  The damages are from just removing the putter from my golf bag.. it would hang and get dented very easily..  

 

Great design, but I would make the tips little more durable..

Also first off thank you so much for the grip.

 

Was a bit of a journey for me to get it installed on my new gamer as I had been waiting for the fitters to open back up to be fit for the first time and invest in what will hopefully be my happily ever after putter for some time, and it took a number of months to get in for a proper fit once the guys at Modern Golf had enough of the 2021 stock in.

 

In the end I was fit into an Odyssey Ten 2 ball with the stock stroke lab shaft and went with the fitters reco - it basically swings itself and for a recreational guy like me who plays on varying greens week to week and has a full time job the forgiveness will help.

 

Unfortunately by the time I got the putter in the mail temperatures had dropped enough to close up the courses for the year, but over the Christmas holiday I installed the grip myself with my very limited setup of some large handyman clamps with slightly spongy grips, some towels for cushion against the work bench, grip tape and solvent without too many headaches and it seems to have gone well.

 

Interestingly when I removed the stock grip I found a 30g counterbalance weight plug in the top end of the shaft, which was probably contributing to that automatic back and forth feeling. 

 

Now I have the Sense grip installed and have been fiddling around with the 30g weight in different positions but for now can only take putts on the carpet so its pretty much all feel based at this point. I've found it very interesting how different the putter head and stroke can feel just by repositioning the same weight at different distances along the grip.

 

Things I will continue to investigate:

1. Trying out the lower weights to see if increasing how heavy the head feels impacts my stroke
2. Dialing in the weight position within the grip

Does anyone have guidance on either?

 

The only two defects / observations I found are:

1. A burr in roughly the middle of the ruled weight shaft that inserts into the grip, which prevents the weight from sliding past the mid point of the shaft. My work-around is to put the weight on from the other end if I'd like to position it towards the other side from where it was before
2. The small hex key inserted into the plastic wrench handle used for the set screws on the weight shaft end caps sometimes rolls over within the plastic wrench handle or pops out entirely. Seems it needs to be fastened within the plastic handle, maybe with adhesive or maybe the wrench handle plastic material is too soft for the small one

All in all I'm buzzing about the potential of this grip and the opportunity to review!

 

Once the spring hits and courses are open I'll try to find a green and properly do a test.
