Stability Polar first thoughts

Phabs

Recommended Posts

Just installed my new stability polar shaft and put it though about 3 hours of practice tonight.  I have 4 stability shafts in putters currently in the stable.  Two plumbers necks and two flow necks.  The other 3 shafts are all the tours.

The polar has a softer feel to it than the tours for sure.  Can definitely feel the strike point better with the polar and the performance of the stability is still there.   My putter specs are the same as the tour model but the feel is definitely different.   Weight is the same as the tour, imitates steel with the weight and balance point.

Very pleased with the shaft, just wondering how the white is going to hold up in and out of the bag constantly.

Interesting. I had the original (non-tour) in my Bettinardi and wasn't a huge fan. I just got the previous tour model (the one written in red) that I plan on installing in my Evnroll, but i thought about this one for my Sik.

If you're saying it's a bit softer, then it may be right up my alley as that was my major complaint about the original. If I like the tour I got, then I may just have to try this.

I was hoping the new Polar might be softer but according to BGT it SHOULD feel the same. I have one coming to test out

They polar does feel different versus the tour,  I can absolutely attest to that.

Each putter may have a different feel to it though too.   I have two carbon SC putters from ‘96/97 — a NP2 and a Santa Fe.   Each feel quite different even though they’re both carbon.

Back to the Polar shaft though…

I recently installed one in a SC 5.5.   Even though the shaft weight was very close  to the stock shaft, it did add a few points of swing weight.

I can definitely feel slightly off centre strikes a bit more than with the stock shaft.

With the Blast golf putting analyzer, I always watch the face, loft and lie stats.   My loft is much more consistent now.   I tend to add a bit of loft with my stroke and now it’s often .5* or less.

Still pleased and any concerns about the white holding up?

None at all.  Shaft is perfect , no chipping or wear

Has anyone removed one of these from a putter and reinstalled it in another?

Not the polar but yes a stability shaft. Its a steel tip, so it pulls out exactly like a steel shaft. That is a difference between these and the LAGP shafts, these are two piece hafts.

Got it - I meant has anyone pulled the stability from the steel tip and left the steel tip in the putter while removing the stability shaft completely without damaging it?

Does anyone have pictures and/or comments of the Stability Shaft Polar on their mallet with a double bend shaft?

I have a Mizuno M-Craft VI that will be getting a Polar soon and I want to know if there is anything I should know in advance.

I just received mine, I thoroughly enjoy it. I will say, you'll have to find an experienced club builder to bend the shaft for you. From my understanding, you cannot purchase the stability this way. Shaft is BGT Stability Tour Black.

I'm not sure you'd want to do this. The steel tip is part of the Stability shaft, I'd imagine removing it would mess with the integrity of the shaft. It comes as a two piece shaft, you do not install your own steel tip.

Trying to remove the steel shaft from the aluminum coupler in the shaft isn’t easy.   Usually you end up pulling the coupler out of the graphite portion along with the steel portion of shaft.

yes, its just glue. I did it by accident from bad glue, I assume you would just heat and pull apart.

Tried this. Went terribly. Don’t do it unless you want to ruin a shaft.

Interesting you brought this up. I had mine installed in October and it seemed fine for the first few months, no issues. I did notice a week or so ago when I pulled it out of the bag that the tip area was starting to discolor. Not sure anything can be done about it, but I may reach out.
