Stitch SL2 or titleist players 4 carbon? Or any other lightweight stand bag

Recommended Posts

Check out the bag forum but sun mountain 2.5+ is a clear favorite and what I recently picked up. Only one round but it’s super light weight and easy to carry. A lot of people don’t like the x straps that come with it but I don’t think it’s too bad coming from a Jones stand bag.

I just moved to a Titleist StaDry 4 this year. Great bag. Super light, plenty of pockets, best rain hood ever on a bag.

I currently use a Shapland sunday bag, and while I love the look of it, it’s gotten to be somewhat annoying to use without a stand. Looking for something very light, and somewhat stylish. Please let me know what you think!

Why not a Shapland stand bag?

I have a Sunday bag 2.0 on pre-order. Just anxiously hoping to not see anything negative about Shapland bags in general. I use a push cart so weight isn’t a consideration.

I've had a Linksmaster caddie bag since last summer.  Beautiful bag, very well constructed.  But if you are looking for light this is not it.  I think it falls somewhere in the 5 lb 4 oz area.  Still not terrible to carry but even with about 10-11 clubs which is my normal amount when carrying you can feel it the last 5-6 holes.

I've tried both that bag and SL1's in the last couple years because of pocket layout and the fact that I prefer carrying on my left shoulder and those are both set up for that.  But I've come to the realization that dual strap is likely the best for me.

Which has me thinking about pulling the trigger on one of the SL2's when they have sale like they do now.  I carry a minimal amount of stuff when I play so overall pocket capacity is not a big issue for me.

If you are considering an SL2, find one and make sure you like the pocket access.  They are very tight.  Sold mine, and my buddy hates his.  Scuffs his hands every time he gets in the pockets.

I just picked up a vessel lite and love it.  Premium feel and look, but pockets are ideal for my needs.  Weighs 4 pounds.

Another vote to check out a Vessel Lite Stand bag. Its primary drawback (at least the reason it didn't work for me) is the top is fairly tight but it may work for you. It checks all the boxes, very well made, excellent materials, stylish bag and very light weight.

It’s a great bag, I get some club tangle with a full set off MCC +4 grip and a super stroke grip on my putter. Bag is not great for push or regular carts, but it does look great.

I can’t justify spending $388 on a sl2 bag, I think I’m gonna go for the titleist players 4 carbon in all navy.

walk is very good. Straps are firm at first but they do break in. Tangle is minimal. Considering the small opening and titling base I’m surprised because the tangle is much better than my old craze lite.

I've got the same (2020 Carbon) in all black and it is great. Not the most "featured" bag ever but it does all the important things in a very compact package.

I bought it to just be my carry bag but it has just turned into my bag 99% of the time (basically except for when I travel).

As noted, most comfortable thing was the straps but they break in.

Check out the Vessel Lite.  I originally bought the Vessel Sunday 2.0 for a lighter simpler bag, but wound up bringing it back for the Lite.  It's not even a half pound heavier and has more room as well as the double strap.  I have not carried it yet as my back has been acting up again, but wearing it to and from the range it seems like it would be a very pleasant bag to carry on the course.  Well balanced, and the back pad is pretty beefy.  I'm pretty stoked on this bag right now, I'm not going to lie.

While SL2 is stylish, it's less functional.  It's a tight bag and pockets are small.  Someone said that you scuff your hands every time you reach in to get something out and this is 100% true even with a medium cadet hands.  For me, the most annoying thing is that while they say that the full length divider is supposed to make it super easy for you to put the clubs in and out, this isn't the case.  The dividers are not fully compartmentalized/siloed so given that this is already a smaller bag, the grips are going to tangle in there.

If this is going to be your main bag, avoid it because you're going to need a slightly bigger bag.

Are the pockets on the SL2 tight due to size? I’ve got smaller hands so thinking for me it may work.

It’s not a hand size thing, the pockets are just tight and hard to access.

Wanted the SL2 so bad as they look great.   Know someone that has one and it has been replaced twice for the stitching on the straps and handles coming apart, the pads at the end of the legs came off and it lost plus the material scuffs bad.

Second big issue is I messed around with one of the bags in our pro shop and the pockets are super tight and small.

I used to really like the sun mountain lightweight bags like the original 2.5 and the first 2.5+.  I do not like the new ones with the straighter dividers so I haven't used one in a while but they had almost no club tangle and were superlight.  Great pockets and layout.  They're probably still great bags but I liked the way the dividers used to get all the clubs to nestle together.
