I agree. The 220 at sub $250 new is nuts. Used are going for more than that.

I have just recently come into the Mizuno STZ 230 and while I have only played one 18 hole round and 2 trackman sessions with it, I am very impressed. It only took a few swings for it to beat my gamer but I think that is because the gamer head is a poor fit from a spin perspective. The Mizuno does a few things differently that I like, 1) It is stock 45" which flies in the face of all the longer drivers being built these days 2) The sound is decided more muted and the feel and feedback is excellent without being punishing 3) I think the shaping is beautiful. Not in love with the carbon crown or high gloss finish but the feel, to me, is excellent. 

 

Distance: Since it is about an inch shorter than my gamer, my swing speed is slightly slower but ball speeds are actually slightly higher (probably better contact) and spin is noticeably down but not crazy low (I am around 2300-2500 rpm on a centered strike) at mid 100s SS. Carry is close to the same but total is longer.

 

Dispersion: Is better on "normal" swings that are centered but about the same on "all out" swings that are centered, which is fairly tight. 

 

Misses: I hit a ball off the heel (like the heel of the heel) which was my only bad swing of the day and it landed in the right rough at 265 (I swing 105-110 mph). My expectation would have been that I would have spun that thing into orbit and/or the trees and landed at 245. The ball mark was barely on the face. That was unbelievable to me. 

 

Workability: I hit a stock draw and it does that. I can't comment on trying to hit intentional fades because, well, I don't do that. I feel like I can flight it up and down pretty well.

@Louis_Posture I am in the UST LIN-Q Red 5F4 (58g // Stiff). I like higher torque shafts that feel smooth so I am about as far away from a HZRDUS feel as I can get, I don't like the low/low trend. I also have a MCA Vanquish shaft (48g // Regular but I am going to tip it 0.5") that I am going to swap adapters out on this week so I can pop that in the STZ as well. Trackman stats below (with RCT balls) with 1 shot thrown out:
