Is this thing made in Japan like the rest of Mizuno or outsourced to china?

 

I'm slowing building a bag that is full of Japanese made clubs/shafts. Basically fujikura/mizuno everything.

My understanding is all casting in the golf industry is now done in China.  So more than likely the only thing from Mizuno still made in Japan are the forged iron heads.

Talked to Mizuno Customer Service today they said not to expect a new STZ fairway woods for a year or so. The STZ fairway just came out last year 2021.

Went to the Trackman for a session with my RADSpeed and STZ last night to do a proper head to head.

 

RAD is 9*, weight up front, Ventus Blue 6S @ 44.75"

STZ is 9.5*, set to STD, stock AV Blue 6S @45"

 

First off, the sound and feel of the Mizuno are fantastic. They really nailed this.

 

After warming up I hit 10 with each driver. Amazingly I didn't hit any stinkers with either driver but did manage a heely cut with both of them. Overall I'd say it was typical of my normal driver strikes.

 

Ball speed with the RAD was about 0.5 mph faster with the RAD than the Mizuno but launch conditions were better with the Mizuno which resulted in 5 yards more carry and 7 yards total. CHS for both is right at 100 mph. Details below.

RAD:    146.1            13.2       3027    236.7    257.8

STZ      145.6           14.0       2606    241.7    265.0

 

Of particular note was that the highest spin number with the STZ was 3100 (the aforementioned heely cut) whereas I got up to 4200 with the RAD. Spin was also more consistent with the STZ.

 

I have some adapters coming to try some of my other shafts as well as an STG 220, but as of right now the STZ is in the bag for this season.

I decided to give the -1 degree another chance on the course, and wow it turned out to be money. It's going to be staying at 8.5 degrees, it's a point and shoot baby draw to like 270 carry.

I had seen the new fairway woods. There must be some delay that is causing a push. I mean, pushing the the STZ 220 fairway woods will mean they do not have a currently avaiable fairway wood model. the 2021 stuff is all sold out.. 

 

None of this makes sense what you are saying though.. I guess unless you are specifically asking about a Z model. I think they decided to just do one line this year to simplify the fairway wood line.  The current 220 fairway is available at TGW...

The 425 fairways are great, but holy moley I absolutely adore my ST-Z 2021 fairways. If you give them a shot I think you'll be very pleased.

The motore F3 is available for custom order no up charge. Just got to get in line and wait vs order a stock option and get it quickly

I was at my local golf shop today picking up my 221s from loft/lie adjustment looking at the 220z about to pull the trigger and my pro said “you know they are making it in blue now?” So I threw my credit card at him and said take my money!!! Order in for a 9.5 with Ventus black 7x!

Well I believe you are correct. Found out today they are not available for custom order. They are only available at online retailers in the stock configuration, and they are selling fast. So stock configuration ordered.

mini vent, ordered 2/28 stz-220 with Smoke Blue RDX 60 6.5. nothing crazy just no inventory in town and it out performed all others. still no email update. my rep told me it would "enter production" this week. this wait is unreal. 

 

i guess the weird snow we got today is ok because i dont have a driver still. . .

There is a limited number of them at online retailers. I ordered one through my local guy that came in yesterday. Kinda a long story but the one in the pic I got from rock bottom golf and sent back. I got nervous when he said he may not be able to get one so I ordered a back up 🤣
