Mizuno ST-Z 220 and ST-X 220

So, looks like the X is going to be Draw biased.

The X has always been draw biased.

Personally I'll be interested to see how these differ from the current ST-Z and ST-X. To my eye, the only obvious difference is the weight seating: the current models have a standard circular weight, whereas these appear to have custom molded weights (increased MOI?). I'm also not sure whether there were any changes to the Beta-Ti face material from the ST-Z to the ST-G 220, so if there were they would probably show up here as well. I also hear that the ST-G 220 is deeper than the ST-Z, and a bit shorter from face to butt, so that could be another update. Hard to tell without side-by-side photos.

Keith and his buddy Grayson did a 2v2 against a popular YouTuber at Sea Island.  I didn’t think he had the driver in play but Grayson did talk about being the first time he hit the new 220.  Keith did say in those 3 videos (they showed 6 holes in each) that he had the new irons and that was the first time he had even hit them.

I have seen photos of the 220 fairway woods as well. I'm loving my STG 220 so I'll probably skip the drivers, but would be interested in the fairways, which includes an STX 7 wood.

And it seems like Mizuno is due for a new line of hybrids but haven't heard anything.

I absolutely love my ST-Z 3w and 5w. I'd be really interested to see how much the 220 versions are improvements.

Also I'm a touch inconsistent with my 2020 CLK, which I use as a 4i replacement. The 7w looks like an interesting option.

Probably nothing major, but probably some different cosmetics, with a different crown design. The 7w is in an STX model, so I assume it will be more draw biased. I don't mind draw-biased weighting but I'm a little worried it will sit with a shut face.

I'm just getting the 3w and 5w (STZ) back in the bag and just trying to find the right shaft fits. I didn't like the stock Motore shaft. Prefer the RDX, like you. Need to get another one built to put in the 5w.

Did you see if there was any change to the head size of the new 220 fw’s or pretty much the same profile?  The deep face along with high launchability is what drew me to the the STX fw.

Haven't seen anything. The USGA site only shows the sole of the club, in black and white, with no data about head size.

I agree with the shafts.  Was not a fan of the Motore.  Felt boardy for me...

so it looks like they totally overhauled the fw's.  fixed hosel and Ti construction, shallower face.  surprised at the drastic change as the stz was arguably their best received fw to date in NA.

disappointed they did away with the adjustable hosel.

Edit:

Disregard the above, I'm an idiot, but I'm leaving it there for proof.

Did you find that it launched and spun too low even with the weights back? Im really considering this driver so just trying to figure out it’s playability for me or waiting for the new STz

For me yes, But I struggle with launch and spin. I always find I need to play more loft. Personally, the G is the lowest spinning driver I have ever tried. I think a 10.5 head would be perfect.

Photos in this thread show the STZ fairway wood with the adjustable hosel. The STX line, which is a more draw-biased game improvement model (see weight location, which mirrors the drivers) appears to have the glued hosel. My guess is the STZ line will run $50-100 more than the STX models.

Where are you seeing the info about TI construction and face depth?
