Mizuno ST-Z 220 and ST-X 220

Man I'm disappointed by both things. I really wanted to like the next mizuno launch of woods. Like to the point I might have accepted no performance gains from prior generations. 

 

St190 and st190 tour spoon driver and fairway were great for me, Original STZ fairway and driver were great. 

 

The TXG "review" and the options with this launch are less than ideal.

The 2nd Swing demo was way better today. It was more so Drew hitting the 2022 drivers for the first time and comparing to each other (ST-Z, Stealth+, Rogue ST MaxLS, LTDxLS) without optimization. Was actually really entertaining. They finished off with Autoflex shaft at the end in the Rogue. The ST-Z starts at 45:00 min mark. Looked like ST-Z was most consistent and neck and neck were in distance with Rogue.  He was really inconsistent with Stealth and LTDx. Granted, none of the heads and shafts were optimized, but was a fun watch.

Well, you can already order one but yet the reviews are nonexistent and sudden hidden of a drop were out of nowhere. At least you get wind of other brands and what they're doing.

I think I for people on WRX it’s not out of nowhere as we keep up with everything but the average person doesn’t and there was hardly any marketing, emails, commercials, etc.

Definitely looks amazing. No nonsense. No gold glam like Callaway and Cobra, stealthier than Stealth. Just a sleek, solid, modern driver.

Here are the numbers. I think there is more in the tank as well. Not the correct fit for shaft.

What shaft were you playing? Trying to figure out the lowest launch lowest spin combo to pair with the STZ 220 myself.

This was the RDX black 6.0. Not a great fit for me. It works ok, but I would actually want something stiffer and a bit more mid launch.

2700 is not bad. Could be due to the shaft being not stiff enough. But for me, I dont chase the lowest spin. I like to be in the 2200-2500 range so this was just a little high in my opinion.

Oh, it's not bad by any means. But if that launch could be at 13 with like 2200 spin, that would be money.

I dream about 2 degrees more launch.. I have always been low on that side. Everyone here chases the low low. I am the odd ball that wants higher and the same. lol...

I’m around a 16 in launch. You can have 2 degrees of mine 😏

 

When I demod it (only tried it with only shaft they had available at big box store in some sort of Diamana 60-65 stiff shaft). Was spinning the driver way too much (swing speed between high 90s-low 100s). Flirting with 2800-3000 spin. Going to go back this week and try a shaft with lower launch and spin in stock offering. Hoping something like RDX Blue Stiff will be a great fit before I pass judgement. Right now Rogue ST Max LS or TD with Tensei White stiff 65 is in the lead.

How does the feel, forgiveness, ball speed and spin rate compare to your TSI3 you are gaming?  I assume your numbers were achieved with the 10.5 head in the one click lower setting based on this picture?

Very similar. I think there is a bump in forgiveness and maybe a small drop in ball speed but I think its pretty close.

Can someone weigh the head? Curious to see if they just increased the head weight a la Ping to boost stability and forgiveness.

This is the first driver I am considering - still gaming the G410 + 

425, epic, sim(s), cobra have all tried and nothing better for me 

stealth and rogue both on radar this year, but This Z intrigues me the most

I'm told head weight is the same as the outgoing ST-Z which came in at 202-204g IIRC.

Any thoughts on the Z vs X in regard to spin from this perspective:

is the low spin X a better fit that the draw biased mid spin Z - 

 

my driver swing speed is low like 88-90. Ball speed maybe gets to 100. Not a slicer but shot shape is a 10 yard fade that can be double that when I get lazy. 
 

probably would go aldila ascent lighter weight for a little additional speed.

And here is a review of the ST-X 220.  Definitely Draw biased and  looks just as forgiving.  Wonder what this would do set to a lower loft and opened up some
