Titleist TS2 versus TSi2

I've played the TS2 since it came out.

 

Is there ANYTHING to be gained by switching over to the TSi2?

I was going to ask the same thing.  For me, yes in driver, no in fairway and no in hybrid.

The only real tangible gains would be related to head shape/sound preference and the slight MOI increase. The TS2 is still a very high MOI driver though so the chances of noticing a difference are small. It did interestingly find its way into two player's bags that were not TS2 players previously though, Justin Thomas and Adam Scott.

Agreed.  The new face in the TSi2 is really, really great IMO. It and the TSi3 are easily my recent favorites from a look/sound/feel standpoint, wish I could get the same numbers from them as from the Sim2!

 

I think every titleist fairway and hybrid back to probably 818 and 913 are perfectly payable.  818H2 is a GOAT status hybrid IMO.

Yeah agreed on all counts there. What were you seeing better/more of from the SIM2 out of curiosity? I have a TSi3 that will be in testing soon against my SIM gamer.

Less spin, especially low off the face, which is my most common miss.  Good on center hits they were pretty much all the same for me.

Gotcha, that makes sense given design and face depth. The SIMs have been insane on low strikes for me, especially the fairways. I felt like I really bottomed one with the 3-wood recently off the tee in testing and thought "perfect, this is exactly the kind of low strike I want to see how it handles" and the ball speed literally didn't change and it still had a bullet flight. I think that is the only area that TM consistently beats TItleist for me, but I really want to put a newer TSi fairway against it to see.

I was playing the TS2 and was looking at replacing it with the TSI3/TSI2. Ended up getting a PXG 0811 Gen 4. It’s 10 yds longer and more consistent.

May not be an apples to apples situation, but... I loved the TS4 I have and told myself that there was no reason to even try the TSi4.  But, while I was down after back surgery this year (and possibly pain killer induced), I found a deal on the TSi4 and pulled the trigger.  It's a better club.  Still has the hot feeling off the face (or maybe even hotter) and it's more forgiving.  Great club!   ...just my .02
