Mizuno MP-20 vs Apex MB

Recommended Posts

I am a 16 y/o, with a 12 handicap and my ball striking (I have been told) is above average. Currently I am playing the Taylormade Tour Preferred MB's and I'm looking for a new set of irons. I have narrowed it down between the Mizuno MP-20s and Callaway Apex MB's. Based on y'alls experiences which is the better set?

Thanks for joining the forum.  All you're going to get here are a bunch of people's biased preferences.  You should go hit them both at your local shop with a launch monitor and pick for yourself.

That being said, Mizuno is way better than Callaway.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

Assuming your swing is in reasonable shape, go see a fitter if you want a new set of clubs.  Otherwise, a new set of clubs won't make you a scratch golfer.

It's no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

Thanks guys, I went to a fitter today and tried both of these bad boys out it the Mizuno's added 10 yards to all my clubs (typically hit 7iron 155, now I hit 165). I decided to go with the Mizunos after I tried the Callaways and they didn't add distance and didn't feel quite as good as the Mizunos. Thanks 🙂

If I were a 12 handicap and 16 I would go with something a lot more forgiving than either of these.

What is the reason you want to stick with these 2 irons?   Have you tried everything and these were the 2 you liked.  Are you buying new or used? Both of these irons are older tech you would do better looking for others. Mizuno just released some new irons.

The two irons you talked about will be terrible with mishits.  You really want to focus on an iron that works for you and sometimes it's game improvement and other times not.

There are tons of manufactures out there that make clubs you should make sure you tried more than 2.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!

    • Cobra 2022 Plans
Anyone have info on Cobra's plans for the upcoming release season? I know the blades are new and assume the King Tours are sticking around for another year (or two); maybe a Forged Tec and Utility update along with their SGI stuff & woods?
