Sarasota Golf

Hi All:

Heading to Sarasota this Wednesday to Sunday. Looking to play Sat early afternoon with my Uncle who is driving over from Port St. Lucie. We are staying at The Resort at Longboat Key and they have 45 holes of golf. They don't allow tee times until the day before which seems strange to me. In the event we can't play there or would prefer to play another option, what are some of the better public tracks in the area that aren't too far of a drive?

From lbk, Try waterlefe or university park country club. After that legacy.
but do what you can to try to get on longboat. Beautiful golf courses. If you or your uncle are members at a private club , have your pro call over to see if they can help secure a tee time.

This area is extremely busy right now.

Try dry dock restaurant for lunch / drinks on the water.

We are staying at Longboat Resort so shouldn't be an issue they said getting a tee time around 1pm on Saturday. Which course should we play- white/blue (harborside) or Links? Thank you for the suggestion for Dry Dock. Will def check it out!

I love that area but haven't played any golf down there.

You won't be far from St. Armand's Circle where you'll find several good restaurants. We liked Shore and Columbia.

Harbourside. Definitely blue. Then red ( slightly more fun than white )

Harbourside is right on the water and has spectacular views of the bay , yachts at the marina. etc.

Ended up playing Links since it was right next to the resort. Weather was crappy- low 60's with spitting off/on rain and windy. Greens were great but the course really lacked much character. It was rather boring and all the holes seemed very similar. Just about every green was elevated. The range was a joke- mats only with flighted balls and couldn't hit anything over 250 yards.

You played the wrong course. Should have played harbourside.
