I bought my irons almost 12 years ago, and have yet to find any that I like better. I know most on here dont like the huge Ti-100's but I love mine. And since I got them new when they came out (before Sam's was selling them for 300.00 a set) all told with 2 reshafts I have about 1600.00 tied up in these things. But the good thing about the titanium is after 12 years the faces still look new and will never wear out.

Hello

Just check out my signature. Playing blades, I have not seen a reason to change as the technology as not varied in decades. They have been refinished and are in really good condition.

Thanks

Loren

I just replaced a set of Tommy Armour 855's circa 1994 with a set of Mizuno mx-25's. Both sets with graphite shafts. I really did not have a problem with the TA's, but after all these years I assume there have been some improvement in the technology. If nothing else the ability to play a forged club that also has game improvement features. Not sure if the switch will lower my scores. I suspect not, but I love the look and feel of the MX-25's.

I'm using Ping Zing 2 Irons which I think were released around 1995. I just started playing last year and these seem to get the ball up and keep it straight so I'm going to stick with them a good while. I've hit a few newer GI Irons and they really don't seem to be any more forgiving than the ol' ugly duckling Pings; I really like them and for $200 think they're the best thing going.

The grooves on these look brand new and even though I've hit out of some rocky places they haven't been chipped up at all; someone mentioned Ping's lasting a long time and these sure have. I guess that's one point for the "Cast" corner in the whole Cast vs Forged debate...

First set of irons was a used x-14 pros with shafts that were probably too stiff for me, but I dealt with it for 2 years. Just got a used gauge set that was probably issued in 2006. And if it continues to perform like it does, I think it will be in the bag for a very long time.

The x-14 pro is such a workhorse, it will stay as a back-up set unless I really need some extra money. For now though, my iron search is over.

X20s. Had X12s before that.

I'd still be playing the X12s except that I lost two heads when the shaft snapped at the hosel. Both times on approaches over water. Figured that with two goners the rest of them may not be far behind so figured it was time to upgrade.

Truth be told if Cally kept old models around the way Ping does and I had the option to get a new set of X12s or X14s from them, I would have gone that route.

I've never owned a set of irons less than 2 years old. Maybe Ben Hogan Grinds, purchased early in '93, when they were severely discounted in favor of a new model.

I'm playing 1966 Haig Ultras blades, purchased on ebay about 18 months ago for $32 plus shipping. I lengthened and regripped them.

They were the clubs of my teenage golfing heyday when I was about a 2.5 index. I don't fret anything when I play these clubs. That's the beauty for me. They were the look and feel I grew up with. Everything subsequent has seemed like an awkward fraud. I love the rounded appearance and high lofts. Makes chipping feel so simple. Plus, the darn things never ding or even get dirty. I can't make a spec of dirt stick to the clubface. Darndest thing I've ever seen.

The Grinds are backup, although the Apex 4 is a bit strong for me these days. Much simpler for me to hit a slight draw with the Haig Ultras than the Grinds. The Ultras came with R flex, just what I wanted.
