Arccos Sensors & Pure Grips

Recommended Posts

I am having difficulty keeping the Arccos sensors attached (screwed into) my new Pure DTX grips. The sensors tend to unscrew themselves during use, I don’t know if this is due to the thin walls of the pure grips.

i never had this issue with previous GP MCC grips. I love the feel of the Pure grips so prefer to keep them.

Any suggestions?

Went round and round with this with the sensors on my grips.  Different sensors ( Garmin ) but they screw in the same way.  I was having to train myself to retighten them after every swing, which kind of defeats the purpose.  If I wanted to remember something on every shot, I could just skip putting the sensors in and click the button my watch.  Anyway, I tried a lot of different things ( was about to try the electrical tape lol ) and finally remembered a tube of Shoe Goo in the garage.  Rubbery adhesive for repairing the soles on your tennis shoes.  I tried it on one sensor first and let it dry for a day before I did the whole set.  It seemed like it was perfect.  The sensor wasn't loose anymore, and the adhesive is flexible enough that I didn't think the shock of hitting the club would break it loose.    It's clear, and you can't see anything in between the sensor and grip.

Long story short, did the whole set, and the following weekend played a round.  I was still reflexively checking the sensors after every shot out of habit, but every one of them still seemed secure.  A week later, I bought a new club and went to take the sensor off of the old one to put on the new club.  Let me tell you,  they aren't EVER coming off on their own again.  You can rest easy about that.  The worry now is trying to get them off without damaging them.  I managed it but I wouldn't want to be doing the whole set.  That stuff works REALLY well for this.  Maybe too well.

I contacted them and I think putting electrical tape on a grip is a total hack for something that costs as much as Arccos does.  I tried making 3D printed washers and that did not work on the first go round.  Trying design #2.  Bottom line is the sensors are too big for some grip caps.  Arccos needs to have cross ribs underneath the grip or reduce the diameter of the outer green ring.  They are very slow to react to things so I would not look for a quick fix here.  You will become Kegan Bradley with a nervous twitch of screwing the sensors in on EVERY shot. I am also wondering if the softness of the PURE grips will prevent the Arccos screw from being able to stay in place.

Bumping an old thread here to see if there are any updates/solutions. I was throwing sensors all over the range today with my new Pure Grips 🙂 The issue seems to be that the downward facing 'rib' on the sensor is smaller than the cap on the butt of the grip, so it doesn't seat all the way.

First instinct was gluing them on. Might try some double sided tape on the threads as well to bulk them up somewhat but I'm not afraid of something more permanent.

Since you bumped the old thread :), I solved this by cancelling my Arrcos membership and switching to ShotScope...sensors work well with a variety of grips. I think the weight & height of the sensors also play a role. The ShotScope ones are quite thin discs so don't get impacted by the palms of your hands while swinging.

Funny you bring this up- i'm liking Arccos but i've been eye balling the X5 Shot Scope all day at work. The thinner design looks better, and they're not that effing green.....

I've also moving off of pure grips to iomic's. The pures are a little too slick for my sweaty hands in 95* weather

I actually ordered a set of Arccos free through Ping to try.  Going to try to set them up tonight for my rounds this weekend, so we shall see.  I kinda hated always having to tap my SS to the little GPS thingie and always play with my Apple Watch on so the Arccos should help there as well.

But we shall see tomorrow (if I can get them paired, I've had a ton of trouble getting it done casually).
